Posted on Friday, June 18th, 2010 at 5:11 pm by George

 Win London Premiere Tickets From Inception Briefcase Hunt Inception‘s official UK Facebook page just unleashed details for a country-wide briefcase hunt in England with 14 tickets to Inception’s world premiere in London up for grabs. Getting started for now just involves “liking” the UK Inception Facebook page. But keep an eye out for cryptic clues updated on Facebook over the next few weeks. The clues will help you find the “The Extractor,” who will be in Brighton, Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool, Bristol, Birmingham or London from July 1st to July 8th, respectively. The first person in each location to find “The Extractor” and state “my mind is the scene of the crime” will receive two tickets to the London premiere.

The Competition Prize:

  • One (1) pair of tickets to the Premiere;
  • Attendance at a Meet the Cast event for two (2) people;
  • One (1) night’s accommodation in a 3 star hotel in London of Warner Bros’ choosing for two (2) people sharing one (1) room; and
  • Return travel for two (2) people to London from the Winner’s place of residence.

There is no word yet if Warner Bros will do a similar competition in the United States or offer early fan screenings similar to what was done for The Dark Knight back in 2008. Fans following the viral marketing were treated to free tickets to one of twenty-four chosen IMAX theaters in the United States for an early screening of The Dark Knight. But if you are lucky enough to live near one of the Inception Briefcase Hunt Competition locations in England, full details for the game can be found here.

Empire Magazine Gets Nolan and Inception Fever

Posted on Thursday, June 3rd, 2010 at 3:36 pm by TeddyBlass

empire cover thumb Empire Magazine Gets Nolan and Inception FeverThe latest issue of Empire Magazine is laced with Christopher Nolan goodness – and that’s an understatement. On the cover is Leonardo DiCaprio via July 16th’s Inception, and on the inside are 3 fantastic features on Christopher Nolan and his films. The cover story is a feature on Inception, and with on-set access and an candid interview with Leonardo DiCaprio, the article attempts to solve the riddle of Nolan’s latest film. Another article included in the magazine is an exclusive interview with the writer-director that touches on Batman 3, Stanley Kubrick, 3D, and the much talked about next Superman film.

“[...] while David Goyer and myself were putting together the story for another Batman film a few years ago, you know thrashing out where we might move on from the Dark Knight, we got stuck. We were just sitting there idly chatting and he said ”by the way, I think I know how you approach Superman”.. and he told me his take on it. I thought it was really tremendous. It was the first time I’ve been able to conceive of how you’d address Superman in a modern context. I thought it was a really exciting idea. What you have to remember about Batman and Superman is that what makes them the best superhero characters there are, the most beloved after all this time, is the essence of who they were when they were created, when they were first developed. You can’t move too far away from that.”

Lastly, but not certainly not least-ly, this issue of Empire Magazine features (more a less) a profile on Christopher Nolan’s illustrious filmography. From Memento, all the way to The Dark Knight, Empire reflects on the fantastic -and still young- career of the filmmaker. The magazine even got Wally Pfister, Gary Oldman, Hugh Jackman, Robin Williams, and Jonathan Nolan to write about how Chris makes the magic happen. So head to your local bookstore today and find yourself a copy of Empire Magazine – you certainly won’t regret it!

Cillian Murphy Talks Inception and Batman 3

Posted on Tuesday, May 25th, 2010 at 9:59 pm by George

25 happy 34 Cillian Murphy Talks Inception and Batman 3“He didn’t say, ‘Take whatever role you want,’” Murphy explained. “I wasn’t going to steal Leonardo DiCaprio’s part. But [Christopher Nolan] said, ‘I have an idea what you might be good for… Tell me what you think.’ And we both agreed. It’s different for me. It’s not like any character I’ve played before.”

In a recent interview with Total Film Magazine, Cillian Murphy revealed that he met with Christopher Nolan over a year ago and was given two hours to read Inception’s script and decide which characters he felt best suited for. The two agreed Murphy would be good for Fischer, a character “central to the narrative of the film” and the mark for the heist. “Chris has talked about it being an existential heist movie and if you take that, I would be a crucial cog in that heist set-up.”

While many have wondered what the on-set dynamic was like with such a complex script, Cillian assured Total Film that “there is never confusion on a Chris Nolan set. Just to be around him… he has complete confidence in his abilities without ever appearing arrogant. He’s just at ease, and he gives actors great confidence. To feel a director like Chris has faith in you is very liberating.”

The emotionality of the film that Geoff Boucher described in his Hero Complex article on was echoed by Murphy: “The film has a strong emotional core to it – Leo’s character and some of the other characters are trying to work emotional stuff out – but, having said that, it is a big exciting action film. It’s not all about people with their heads in their hands going, ‘Why did I leave that girl?’”

When asked about Batman 3 Murphy wasn’t able to bring details to light, but appeared willing to reprise his Scarecrow role if given the opportunity. “It’s not for me to start campaigning for the Scarecrow to come back but if Chris wants me back in that role, yeah, absolutely, I would love to do it…”

Murphy left Total Film with some encouraging words on what is sure to be something special. “In this age of 3D and phenomenal special effects, we tend to be a little inured to big movies, like, ‘Whatever…’ But Chris is really going to challenge that with Inception. I don’t doubt it.”

jokeraha 300x229 Batman 3 Officially Set For 2012

Nearly two years after the release of The Dark Knight, Warner Bros. announced today that the third Batman film will debut in theaters and IMAX July 20, 2012. Although no details regarding the film have been released, it’s safe to assume Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine, and Morgan Freeman will be reprising their respective roles and that it will be the final Batman film by Nolan.

For comparison, The Dark Knight was officially announced on July 31, 2006. The title and Heath Ledger as the Joker were included with that announcement. Details for the next film are expected to release in the coming months, with a title and a villain hopefully by the end of July.
