Production Update #4: Rain, Trains and Automobiles

Posted on Saturday, September 19th, 2009 at 1:11 pm by TeddyBlass

Christopher Nolan and his cast and crew for Inception have once again crashed the streets of downtown L.A. for some weekend shooting. Just a couple blocks west of where they were last week, sprinkler systems have been placed high on nearby buildings to simulate rainfall, and a diesel locomotive has been parked close by. What is all this for? Well according to scene descriptions posted by Film L.A.:

EXTERIOR SEMI-AUTO LOAD GUNFIRE BEFORE 9:00 A.M. EXTERIOR AUTO, FULL LOAD GUNFIRE AFTER 9:00 A.M. Simulated car crash with train. Breaking glass. Simulated bullet effects on body and things. Atmospheric smoke effects. Weapons brandished. Driving scenes. Equipment on property, sidewalk, curb lane and across the street. Exterior dialogue. Occasional traffic and pedestrian control. Near hits & misses. Stunt driving. Process trailer. Rain effects. Wetting of the street. Camera car. Condor and crane. Generator. Picture vehicles. Scissor lifts.

BlogDowntown.com reports that actual shooting is limited to daytime hours, and a note distributed by the production company says there will be street closures for both days of filming. Inception is said to wrap production end of November/early December. Stick tuned for more updates.

Production Update #3: Coming to America

Posted on Thursday, September 3rd, 2009 at 7:57 pm by AlexHaas

losangelesfilming 16 Production Update #3: Coming to AmericaAfter starting off in places like Japan, England, France and Morocco, filming on Christopher Nolan’s Inception as finally made its way to the United States – Los Angeles to be exact. FadedYouthBlog.com (via Flynet) and Pacific Coast News Online posted some pictures from filming today in the city.

We found out in early August that the crew would be filming in Los Angeles on Thursday, September 3rd, Friday, September 4th, and Wednesday through Friday, September 9th through the 11th. Address: 1745 E 7th St, Los Angeles. We also heard they may be filming around N. Spring St from College St- Baker St.

UK Press outlet The Press Association recently managed to squeeze some comments from Joseph Gordon-Levitt about working on Inception.

It’s so great. I am just really honored and grateful to be working for Mr. Nolan. He has such integrity and what’s really cool about Inception is that he’s getting to make this enormous movie that’s just his own brainchild, just his own idea that he wrote out of his head. I’ve looked up to Leonardo DiCaprio ever since I was very little. He was an actor at a young age, always doing it with such integrity and sincerity. So much of what happens in Hollywood is for all the wrong reasons. That guy does it because he loves it and believes in the art and the craft of it, which shows in his work and his choices. It’s something I have always aspired to and to get to work with him and be in scenes with him is really special.

When pressed to talk specifics about Inception, JGL responded by noting “It’s really important to Chris that nothing about the specifics about the story are revealed before people get to see the movie.”
