Joseph Gordon-Levitt Says Inception is Nolan’s “Baby”

Posted on Saturday, November 14th, 2009 at 2:14 am by TeddyBlass

Our buddies over at Cinematical recently got to talk with Joseph Gordon-Levitt about his new movie, Uncertainty. And like the good journalists that they are, they poked him about his role in Inception. Here’s what they got out of him:

Cinematical: [Inception] looks amazing. What is your character Arthur about?

I think it looks amazing too. I can’t wait to see how it all turns out. I can’t wait to talk to you about it, too, but Chris is one of my favorite artists alive today, and it’s important to him — and this project, Inception, is really his baby, it’s something he wrote all by himself, and having done The Dark Knight, which is, I think, one of the great movies of the decade, he now has the liberty to do whatever he wants, whatever he can think of, and this is what he’s doing. And so it’s really important to him that he gets to present it to his audience in exactly the way he wants to, and so he asked me, you know, “Don’t tell anybody anything about it.”

So it looks like we won’t be getting much more than that out of the stars of Inception. But one thing is for certain; Chris is passionate about this project and it shows! You can check out the rest of the Joseph Gordon-Levitt interview over at Cinematical. Thanks to Mantwiss in the forums for the tip.

Inception News: Production Updates

Production Update #3: Coming to America

Posted on Thursday, September 3rd, 2009 at 7:57 pm by AlexHaas

33772PCN_PageAfter starting off in places like Japan, England, France and Morocco, filming on Christopher Nolan’s Inception as finally made its way to the United States – Los Angeles to be exact. FadedYouthBlog.com (via Flynet) and Pacific Coast News Online posted some pictures from filming today in the city.

We found out in early August that the crew would be filming in Los Angeles on Thursday, September 3rd, Friday, September 4th, and Wednesday through Friday, September 9th through the 11th. Address: 1745 E 7th St, Los Angeles. We also heard they may be filming around N. Spring St from College St- Baker St.

UK Press outlet The Press Association recently managed to squeeze some comments from Joseph Gordon-Levitt about working on Inception.

It’s so great. I am just really honored and grateful to be working for Mr. Nolan. He has such integrity and what’s really cool about Inception is that he’s getting to make this enormous movie that’s just his own brainchild, just his own idea that he wrote out of his head. I’ve looked up to Leonardo DiCaprio ever since I was very little. He was an actor at a young age, always doing it with such integrity and sincerity. So much of what happens in Hollywood is for all the wrong reasons. That guy does it because he loves it and believes in the art and the craft of it, which shows in his work and his choices. It’s something I have always aspired to and to get to work with him and be in scenes with him is really special.

When pressed to talk specifics about Inception, JGL responded by noting “It’s really important to Chris that nothing about the specifics about the story are revealed before people get to see the movie.”

Inception’s Character Names Revealed

Posted on Wednesday, August 19th, 2009 at 12:59 pm by AlexHaas

parisfilmingday3 1x Inceptions Character Names RevealedUntil earlier this week, we’ve been completely lost in the dark when it comes to details concerning Christopher Nolan’s Inception. While we are still, very much, lost in the dark, we are starting to see the first rays of light transverse the horizon.

Inception has been filming in Paris all this week and we’ve been hit with a tidal wave of photos. One image, in particular, is a shot of a Call Sheet for the cast. Bonus: it lists character names. Ellen Page is Ariadne, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is Arthur, Tom Hardy is Eames, Ken Watanabe is Saito, Dileep Rao is Yusef, Cillian Murphy is Fischer, Tom Berenger is Browning. Leo DiCaprio’s name is missing from the list, but we’re assuming that the name Cobb refers to him. The name Cobb is listed in the first cast slot and character slot.

Inception Filming in Paris, France Next Week

Posted on Friday, August 14th, 2009 at 6:35 pm by George

bir20hakeim20bridge20hr Inception Filming in Paris, France Next WeekOn Monday, August 17th, Inception will be filming around the Pont de Bir-Hakeim, a bridge that crosses the Seine River in Paris, France.  Scenes will likely involve Ellen Page’s character, a graduate student studying in Paris. Leonardo DiCaprio and Michael Caine are also likely to be in the shoot, since they were both present for filming that took place at the University College London library that was altered to imitate the Bibliotheque of the Ecole de Architecture in France. We are also suspecting that Joesph Gordon-Levitt will be a part of these scenes too. He’s been tweeting in French.

Once filming in Paris is complete, the global production will move on to Los Angeles in early September and Calgary in November.  Filming will also take place in Tangier, Morocco sometime before production wraps in December. Posted below are some photographs of the Pont de Bir-Hakeim.
