Ask any good filmmaker what the most important aspects of film are, and among the top answers you get, sound will undoubtedly be one of them. It’s vitally important to modern cinema, and it is one of the key factors in selling the audience on the world of the film they’re viewing. Luckily for director Christopher Nolan, Academy Award winning sound designer Richard King was part of his team working on Inception. The two had a successful last collaboration with The Dark Knight, in which King won the Oscar for Best Sound Editing. King also won the same award in the past for his work on Master and Commander, and has won and been nominated for various other awards for his work on films like Signs, War of the Worlds, and Nolan’s own The Prestige.
The acclaimed sound-man and his team of mixers (Lora Hirschberg and Gary Rizzo) can been seen in a new featurette about Creating the Sounds of Dreams for Inception. In the video they explain the fascinating process of creating, editing, and mixing sounds for complex and rich world of the film. Check it out:

With Inception officially in theaters and IMAX here in the US, a lot of the upcoming news stories will likely focus on it’s performance at the Box-Office and what not. We thought this would be a good time (while it’s available to us) to go ahead and post some more fun (and essentially fluff) videos for everyone to enjoy. This particular video is of James Rocchi of MSN Movies talking with the stars and director of Inception about keeping it real in an unreal world. Check it out. Hopefully it holds you over until your next viewing of the film in theaters:
Over the past year and five months, we’ve written 119 Inception-related news articles (this is #120) and now, right now, theaters across North America are opening their doors for displays of Mr. Nolan’s seventh feature film.

Inception premiered stateside last night in Los Angeles, opening with an excellent live concert featuring Hans Zimmer and Johnny Marr. The Los Angeles Times managed to catch most of the film’s cast on the red carpet (or, well, red and black carpet) for quick interviews. First up is Leonardo DiCaprio. Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Cillian Murphy, Lukas Haas, Dileep Rao, Ken Watanabe, Hans Zimmer, and Johnny Marr after the jump.
