when you say dictatorship I cannot help but laugh. When did we degrade into ‘West is beer & jeans and East is vodka & Gulag’ sort of talk really? It’s false news ma man.
Seriously? From whatever I know of Russia, I'd rather put it with North Korea and China than USA, UK, Japan etc. Hell, how oligarchs, police, and army in Russia operate sounds more like Narcos: Mexico if you ask me.
If it's your personal preference, sure, why not. I have a different perspective. 🕷

You’re not wrong. It’s a broken, corrupt to its very core, manipulative, brainwashing, gaslighting country with a massive victim mentality who respects no one’s boundaries, whether they be cultural, or literal. The anti-Russian sentiment is, sadly, on the rise, but it’s so weird to me that anyone would try to frame the hatred Russia’s government receives as part of unfounded and “paranoid” case of russophobia. Solid diplomatic relationship with Russia only works based on the idea that you’re willing to cater to their every whim and close your eyes to whatever shit they’re pulling from behind your back, unless you’re ready to be propped as their next incarnation of “the big foreign bad who’s obviously threatening poor Russia’s sovereignty thus we have to squash it”

Cold war never really ended, this shouldn’t have been news to anyone post-2014..

So... just like USA? Lol. And why 'sadly' when you have such a clear opinion on Russia? Obviously you're helping the sentiment with the exact same sentiment. And I wasn't really talking about Russian government and politics per se (as stated in my posts above), I was talking about everyday Russian people and how they're receiving the exact same end of the 'big baddie from the cold war' stick. 🕷

I have a clear opinion on Russian government and their foreign policies, not Russian people. I have part Russian ancestry lmao. So yes, “sadly” indeed, as I’d never vouch for xenophobia and bigotry, not exactly my problem if you can’t see that.

“just like USA”. lol. Hey, the US is very far from perfect, but good lordy.

EDIT: And I very strongly empathize with Russian people. The one’s who understand the severity of today’s politics and don’t blindly support it. I very much hope one day the country will be able to elevate itself from this and be more democratic. On the other hand, the Russian equivalents of Trump supporters who feel threatened by being on the other receiving end of “the cold war stick”? Nope, sorry. I’ll feel sorry for them once they feel sorry for the little countries around them that they hate to their core and have been feeling entitled to for centuries.

Hey, it's the internet, we'll just have to deal with diversity of opinions on foreign matters I guess.🕷

India has solid diplomatic relationship with USA without catering to their every whim.
So has Brazil and Canada from what I know.

India has even defied USA on many important issues (nuke tests, pharma patents, arms purchases from Russia).

This may not be the ~best~ example ever, but it’s basic and shouldn’t go over anyone’s head: look at how many people are mocking Trump on a national level. Twitter, other social media channels, you name it. “cheeto in command”, “agent orange”, and so on and so forth. Trump is horrible, but right now the most he can do is whine about it on Twitter, which is what Russia lacks. Do we see people from Russia so freely dissenting their president? Like, using comedy of all kinds as a coping mechanism against him?

I do respect m4’s opinion despite him trying to label me as a russophobe, and I do my best to try and understand the certain complexities that this issue pertains, even if my opinion above didn’t reflect it much. But I simply just do not agree that both sides of the coin (Russia vs USA) are the same. Whataboutism doesn’t help much here either.

I wanted a clear and polite out of this particular conversation but, please, don’t invite a new word into this: ‘russophobe’, then in your second post say that I’m somehow passive-aggressively painting you as one. Please. Never said anything like it, only questioned the way you constructed your original post. Thank you.

I also have many friends on both sides and perfectly understand that the situation is pretty ‘delicate’, to say the least.🕷️

Asked which of the fast food eats he likes best, "I like it all," said @POTUS. "It's all great stuff." Said it'll be interesting to see how much is left, after the Clemson team fills up. Thinks they'll like it better than anything else the WH could serve.
