I was six years old, it was a rainy night and my Dad just got a new sound system. It wouldn't be much now but back then it was something else, the speakers were as big as I was. So we sat down to watch a movie together, and I was enjoying it, I always did like them. But then a scene came up, a scene that without words, dialogue or narration told me so much more than anything else up to that point. I still remember it to this day.
When that music rose and the hero just kicked the sand to the side as he watched the otherworldly sunset, a billion thoughts raced through my mind. What could he be thinking? What would make him want to watch a sunset? How are these stars possible? Why is he in such a lonely desert? What happened to his parents? Who is he? What will he become? What are his ambitions? I had thoughts, interpretations, wonders. . .
ideas. It was during that scene that spoke a million words with none at all that I decided to become a storyteller.
