Nevermind the fact that it subverts even that trope. She's stabbing him while monologuing. Most villains would wait.

Okay, here are some more.

1. Does Bruce install everything inside the Batcave (rising platforms, doors, computers, etc.) himself or does he pay someone to do it? This would surely reveal his secret.

2. If Bruce didn't pay anyone, how was he able to make all these things with a broken leg?

3. Did Bruce make Alfred do it? Pretty rude, considering his age.

4. How come we don't see Miranda's reaction when she wakes up and realizes Bruce is no longer beside her after they fucked? Is it possible that Miranda wanted to destroy Gotham and kill Bruce just because he left her without a goodbye that night?

5. How did Bruce obtain a screenshot from The Dark Knight? Surely, this movie can't exist inside the Nolanverse itself.

6. Did Bruce's Dark Knight rise when Selina kissed him? Nolan never tells us.

7. Did Bane inhale or exhale when he broke Batman's back? Nolan never tells us.

8. How did Batman and Catwoman know to meet at the train tracks?

9. How did Bruce manage to put oil all around the bridge to create a bat symbol? A good 5 minutes could have been added to explain how Bruce managed to do this.

10. How did they create a statue of Batman so fast?

These questions and many more deserve to be answered. For now, I guess we'll just have to make due with this one, simple answer for almost every "plot hole" in this movie, provided to us by Mr. Christian Bale.

This is again ridiculous since this complaint could be applied to any movie that has a villain.

Villains always love to have the last words. To make the hero suffer or to humiliate him.

If Joker wouldn't have tried to explain Batman where did he got his scars from then he would have been able to detonate the ships. It's the same thing yet I saw no one complained about that then.

True, but the Joker's statement lasted about 10 seconds while Talia's lasted about 2 minutes. The Joker underestimated the citizens of Gotham and his plan backfired...Talia's plan was looking pretty good until she decided to give her speech. Although, if the trigger had worked, wouldn't she and the rest of the LOS had died from the detonation? So in essence, everyone a part of that operation was willing to be a martyr.

Okay, if you want to play that game, then if Talia hadn't monologued, Gordon would have just happened to jam the signal earlier and Selina would have arrived on the Batpod earlier. Same result.

These aren't real life events; they're scripted. You can't play the "what if" game because none of the characters have free will. Events will always produce the result the director intends.

NOLAN NEVER TELLS US

before i started going through the posts of this discussion, I was expecting that members will be discussing the larger UPs and DOWNs in the plot. But I see majority of viewers have confused symbolism with plot holes. Nolan's Batman series is absolutely beyond a doubt the best representation of Batman. He has build a great and loyal fan following over first two movies. He believes that being regular and repeat viewers, we all understand his grammar (as someone mentioned earlier) and language of the movie and he sure can take little liberty of living such shortcomings unattended assuming that we ourselves will fill in the details. Also, he has given special consideration to repeat viewers and fans by living great deal of symbolism. Such as, ... (Click on Spoiler Alert button to reveal the text)

1. Batman carrying the bomb and disappearing from the public life on horizon when it's sunrise. Symbolizes with nocturnal bats flying back to where they belong when it's Sunrise.

2. Bruice Wyne's meeting with Gordan at the hospital, in black snow mask. Reminds of his first visit to Gordan at police station, happened very much the same way.

3. I dont know if this is good or not, but i see repetitive use of dialogs all throughout the movies. "This is just the begining..." used by Batman and Joker back to back. "Showing Gotham the true colors..." Used by Gordan and Joker.

4. All copes ending up on the same side. Happened earlier in Batman Begins.

5. Blake kept aiding Batman throughout the movie, without getting into Robin's character. That was an excellent way to introduce Robin in subtle manner.

Anyway, my point here is - there are probably bigger and larger holes than subjective questions such as how did batman escaped the bat.

Here are my doubts:

1. Why Alfred kept visiting that coffee shop in Florence regularly despite knowing that Bruice is dead.
2. Alfred has never given up on Bruice, so why did he this time?
3. Bruice's mansion was burnted down by Ra's-Al-Ghul in Batman Begins. When did Bruice built it again?
4. If there is a possibility that someone wants to acquire Wyne Enterprises, it has to be Earl and not anyone else. Remember the way Bruice/Fox fired him? He should have teamed with Bane to come back.
5. In both earlier movies, Bruice had a clear distinction of his Batman persona from being 'Bruice'. This movie, hardly left any difference between them. Both his personalities were absolutely merged.
6. If Bane/Miranda are now owning the League of Shadows, where are their highly skilled members? why Bane had to rely on mercenaries?
7. As discussed earlier by other members, Bane's age is a big question. So is Alfred's.

I know the above doubts don't matter much. It's a great trilogy. Hans Zimmer's music keeps buzzing in head even after hours from you've walked out of hall. But such discussions are adding even more to it

I guess I can see how he is attempting to have the police in a weak situation where they aren't able to help Gotham, just as Bruce isn't able to help in the prison...but just killing them would have not only been easier but prevented them from stopping their plan. But if that happened, then that would ruin the plot and there would be no need for a movie.

2. If Bruce had been shaving sometime during the past 7 years, how was he able to shave if he had to lean on a crutch? Did he sit down? Did Alfred shave him? If Alfred did shave him, why does Alfred never mention it? Nolan never tells us.

3. When did Bruce shave his beard off for the last time? Before he went to the party? Having a beard myself, I know that cutting it off after a long time can make the skin very sensitive, even slightly red. But clean-shaven Bruce shows no facial marks at all. How? Why? Not even any nicks? Nolan never tells us.

4. How did Bruce shave in the jail? And how and when did he shave before he came back to Gotham? Would Bruce really spend precious time shaving when he knows from the jail TV that the city has very little time left to survive? If he did stop to shave, who was he expecting to see first, Talia or Selina? Nolan never tells us.

These questions need to be answered, hopefully by a 5-6 hour Nolan rough cut, before we can explore an even greater plot hole--How did BANE shave?

Two nice additions/explanations about Bruce and the Bats (yes, I said Bats) from the novelization.

From at the funeral:
"No official cause of death had been released regarding the last of the Wayne dynasty. The tabloids had indulged in scandalous speculation, but nobody really paid much attention. Too any people had died during Bane's reign of terror for even the death of Bruce Wayne to stand out

and

From Lucius at Applied Sciences:
[T]he underground armory looked as good as new, as did the new and remaining prototypes. . . .

At the moment, a pair of technicians was inspecting the last surviving version of the Bat. The original Prototype had been vaporized over the ocean, months ago, but Fox had salvaged a variant model whose components has survived Bane's incursion. The techs were running a systems analysis from the cockpit. . . .

The tech keyed in the request, His eyes widened in surprise.
"Huh? Bruce Wayne."
Bruce?
Lucius stepped away from the aircraft, trying to conceal his reaction. An idea began to form in his mind, as clearly as an engineering diagram. A weight slowly lifted from his shoulders.
Well, as I live and breathe. . .

Well, here’s a nice addition/explanation about Alfred in the café from the novelization that will blow your Bat-mind, or at least give food for thought.

According to the book, Alfred tells Bruce that he always took his vacation every year in Florence, and every night he would go to the same café by the Arno. He would look for Bruce but he was never there.

At the end, Alfred is at the same café, remembering when he used to look for Bruce—when he actually sees Bruce.

So, for me, this is NOT a chance meeting. It seems clear that Bruce has come to the café—where he KNOWS Alfred is going to be each night—and reveals to Alfred that he is indeed alive.

Also, the novelization has Selina wearing Bruce’s Mom’s necklace of pearls. I’m not sure I recall Selina wearing pearls in the film, but for me that’s a minor point.
