For me Nolan is the best filmmaker working today and my fav. followed by Fincher and Scorsese. Each of Nolans films have a different meaning to me and are all great. The prestige is up there on the top with all other Nolan films. I love ever film equally and it is hard to choose. TDKR might beat TDK which is currently my fav. Nolan is a constantly evolving filmmaker and the next will always top the previouse one.

True, True But from everything we've seen and heard (WB exec's giving it standing ovation, great trailers) TDKR looks like something quite special.

Oh, don't get me wrong... I'd beat an old lady with a 4x4 if it meant I could see TDKR RIGHT NOW. But, all I'm saying is that I'm already excited for it, and a couple of vague tweets are not gonna make me even more excited than I already am.

In my humble, personal opinion, Memento is his best, but then Insomnia < Batman Begins < The Prestige < The Dark Knight < Inception. I think his career reset a bit after Memento, because he's spent the last decade transforming from an incredibly talented independent director into am incredibly talented director who can make epic, blockbuster, big-budget, big-name films. And The Dark Knight Rises is the climax of that transformation. So the idea that this is better than it's predecessor isn't surprising to me as much as it is anticipated.

I think Insomnia is definitely his worst. Batman Begins is his weakest script ("FEAR!") but I don't think that alone makes it his worst. I think the story of BB and just about everything else is very interesting. To me his masterpieces are TDK The Prestige and Memento. All those are in my top 10, with Batman Begins in my top 25 - 30 range. I have almost no doubt TDKR will end up in my top 10.

I remember some anonymous source who saw an unfinished version of the movie a few months ago claimed TDKR was better than The Dark Knight. I was a little skeptical of that but now it seems there are some other people agreeing with that sentiment. I find that pretty astonishing if it's true. I'm hoping Peter Travers puts out his review soon, I'm sure he's seen it already. His review for The Dark Knight was released in late June or early July and his review for Inception was also leaked a few weeks early before it's opening.

Searching through Youtube videos, and found this little gem of an interview that Gary Oldman gave in March 2011 at the Empire Awards, two months before the beginning of principal shooting:



What I find real great about this, is that he specifically mentions the greatness of the story, and how Nolan has completely outdone both the Dark Knight's story and every other film he's done's story.

At the end of the day, a story makes a film, so I'm not really surprised if it tops both The Dark Knight and Inception and Momento.
