FORREST GUMP - 10/10

... Perfection.

I've always liked Forrest Gump, but I always thought it was exploiting a mentally challenged person.

Yeah it doesn't get old and it's aged very well.

Lol, it's not exactly old, it came out in 2006. I don't even start to talk about how well a film has aged until it's like 20 years old.

Lol I guess, but some films of the last decade I think have aged badly. Sider-man 2 for example.

THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION - 9.7/10

So I finally watched it. Too tired to post a long-ass review right now, but yeah, wow. Top-notch acting, a wonderful script, amazing editing and pacing. To be fair, I found the very ending wasn't on par with the rest of the film in terms of technical quality, but I'm just being picky here.

lol, what the hell took you so long to see this film. I'm not going to nit pick about you leaving 3/10 of a point off for a perfect score, but what about the ending didn't you like? And I'll put this in spoilers in case someone else hasn't seen the film...

I presume the only criticism that one might have of the ending is that it feels forced with them meeting on the beach, but that wasn't the original ending. Darabont wanted the film to end with Red on the bus, heading towards Mexico. The screen was supposed to fade to black after Freeman's words, "I hope." However, the studio felt that the audience would have gone through an unbelievable journey with these two men and it was only fair to have them meet in the end. Thus, the ending that we got. To be fair, I can't imagine this movie ending any other way. I'm all against cliches and overly forced happy endings, but this is the one film that pulls it off and gives me goosebumps everytime that score comes in.

Yeah, I thought the ending felt a bit clichéd, and overly forced optimistic. But still, ain't gonna be picky with a film as good as that, are we? :P

Everything about that movie is spot on in my opinion. The cast is one of the best...Red, Andy, Warden Norton, Brooks...all perfectly cast. The score is one of the best I've ever heard, and the direction (Darabont's first!) is spectacular. It has become sort of popular to undervalue Shawshank because it's such a fan favorite, but not this guy
