So Jesus, you don't think TDKR has any chance of beating The Avengers record?

Im not to fussed about Box office takings but it would be awesome for TDKR to take crown. The way i see it is avengers set the bar high box office wise, but if there is any movie that can beat it, its TDKR.

That and maybe Avatar 2 (I know Avatar didn't have the biggest domestic opening, but look how much it made total, the fuss for that movie didn't start until the opening weekenders started praising it), I have a feeling Avatar will have a monumental opening, especially with 3D.

I'm sure it's out the number is out there somewhere, but it's probably not alot, seeing that tickets haven't went on sale in alot of markets yet.

I read about tickets being sold out in LA, San Francisco, and New York.

TDKR Box Office Opening Weekend

I really do not think TDKR will top Avengers 200 million mark for the opening weekend, BUT the GROSS TOTAL of TDKR will definitely be more than Avengers!!!!!!!!!!

Surely that TDKR will be a lot better and popular which attract audience back to watch it for more times. However, for the opening weekend, TDKR simply cannot get more than 200m since THE NUMBER OF SEATS IN THEATERS ARE JUST LIMITED   and since TDKR does not have 3D, even though all seats are sold, TDKR may still not be able to go beyond 200m...

i am not trolling, i am just very angry with this fact!

RTA: I've seen a lot of a talk about "the Avengers" vs "the Dark Knight Rises". How will you feel if you're eclipsed by Nolan?

Joss Whedon: I'm glad I made you ask that. I will feel sad. But let's look at the bigger picture, and I can't say this enough: THIS IS NOT A ZERO SUM GAME. Our successes, whoever has the mostest, are a boon to each other. We're in the business of proving that superhero movies aren't just eye-candy (they're eye-TRUFFLES!). People seem intent on setting us against each other, and though I'm proud to be Woody Strode to Nolan's Kirk Douglas, I think they're missing the point. Whatever TDKR does on its first weekend, the only stat that matters to me is the ticket I'M definitely buying. Nolan and Raimi INVENTED the true superhero flick, yo. (Special mention to Jon Favreau and James Gunn.) Happy to be in the mix.

Actually No. Remember that TDKR will have all 275 screens on IMAX due to the deal with WB. Avengers only had 70 screens.

Furthermore if every seat from every showing was filled for the weekend, the earning will be 270 million.

thirdly.

The total number of screenings for TDK OW after adding all theaters and all screenings was 9500.

Harry Potter 7.5 had 11,100

Avengers had 11900

Its pretty much obvious that TDKR will have more screenings than 11,900 OW
