Nolan set to produce "Batman 4"

I think its the fact that we have finally had a good Batman Trilogy that has very little flaws overall that just kicked ass, and when you say "Reboot" it does bring up the scary possibility of what if the next director sucks and takes Batman back to the Schumacher days and makes it all a joke again. It doesn't even have to be that bad to become a joke again really. Its definitely possible. Personally, I know there will be a reboot so I'm looking on the positive, my problem is them trying to do it too soon. This trilogy needs the right amount of time (at least 10 years) to sink in. So I am just hoping that Man of Steel is a great success so that they can at least focus on Superman for a decade. Also other projects, such as Green Lantern being a terrible FAIL, so reboot that. Usually you reboot whats been broken, not what has worked out perfectly. They also need to take there time with it too. If they really feel they need to reboot Batman ever single decade than its going to turn to sh** really fast. They need to get a good director, and him and who ever he works with needs to really take there time and not feel pressure to release a Batman movie ever 2 years or so.

so once again, does anybody have a legitimate reason against a reboot? one that is outside of silly idolization of Nolan's work?

Rebooting Batman so soon would be milking the proverbial cow. It'd be another classic Hollywood high concept money grubbing technique. Batman might grow stale (as the comic book film genre has started to become) and I will lose interest. If we give it maybe 7-10 years before making a new series of Batman films then I might change my mind.

but how is any of that relevant? YOU might lose interest? who are YOU to the studio, in the grand scheme of things??? There are millions of people who will want to watch the movie...and these movies will have nothing to do with Nolan's trilogy.

I hope Nolan can be a good producer as well as a director because choosing Zack Snyder for "Man of Steel" made me nervous but I will wait until I know who the director of the batman reboot will be before i pass a provisional judgment. If it's Michael Bay you know you're doomed and I would not be opposed to see werner Herzog creating his interpretation of batman. It's just sad that they want to reboot it right away before the Nolan films have any way of staying in the collective memory as the best comicbook adaptations ever made. it's just so WB can compete with Marvel/Disney. I'm sick of corporations running our culture into the ground and i hope nolan can be a positive force in the production of the reboot.

On Man of Steel, I really cant stand Snyder to much myself. Don't hate him, but I don't see that much potential. He can't write a good original story to save his life. His visuals, they have good moments but could be better. I was happy to hear him say that he will be going for a more realistic approach (I seem to feel like Nolan sat him down one day and told him straight up don't to anything stupid and F*** up my name. Haha) and I guess he has done that before once with Dawn of the Dead. It has to be properly used CGI that is in place only when necessary. Hopefully Nolan has whipped him into shape and taught him a few tricks. I'm not too worried about it because he didn't have a hand in the story, that was just Nolan and Goyer. Well see...

For a Batman reboot I really don't know at this point who will be good to fallow in Nolan's footsteps. Certainly NOT Micheal Bay is all I can say right now...

I'm glad Nolan used some lesser known villains that other directors may not have handled so well. Now that Ra's, Scarecrow and Bane were done in a successful franchise we will likely see them again some day. I think he conveyed to future directors of comic films in general that you can use some of the more lesser known characters and find interesting ways of interpreting them while still being loyal to their source material.

As much as I wanted to see Nolan's take on so many villains its good that he didn't use iconic ones like The Riddler and Penguin. This gives the next director a chance to use a major draw character giving him a good leg to stand on going into Batman. Because whoever sits in the director chance next is going to need all the help they can get.

I look forward to future film versions of: Riddler, Penguin, Black Mask, Victor Zsasz, Clayface (Basil Karlo), Mad Hatter, Ventriloquist, Mister Freeze/Mr. Zero, Poison Ivy, Calendar Man, Deadshot, Killer Moth, Harley Quinn, Hugo Strange, Man-Bat, Killer Croc and especially HUSH!

While I hope filmmakers are smart enough to leave this bunch alone for awhile I someday hope to see more Joker, Two Face, Ras, Scarecrow, Catwoman and Bane.

I would really like the next Batman film to be a classic "whodunit" detective story. I want to see "The World's Greatest Detective" in action. There should be a number of characters to act as suspects. Not necessarily all of these but possibly the likes of Hush, Riddler, Calendar Man, Hugo, Zsasz, Falcone crime family, Penguin. Even Alfred and Bruce should be suspects in a murder case Gordon is trying to unravel.
