After the Hype: Verdict?

As far as "film of the generation" is concerned (at least within the context of its impact upon society), Inception did make it's way into some artists' lyrics within songs. I believe Black Eyed Peas and Kanye both referenced it. Also, we can't forget the hilarious "Insheeption" episode by South Park.

It really has been in a lot of stuff, and I swear the word has simply been used more in general since the movie came out.

An article I know which is about Inception's ending, has almost 8000 comments, and counting. The hype is still alive in some circles :P

Just a quick thought I had about Inception:

Image

Look at what the characters are wearing.

Cobb - white. Symbol of marriage in western culture, death in eastern culture, both of which are what his mind is based upon.
Eames - blue. Symbol of confidence and calm, which he basically personifies.
Arthur - brown. Reliability and stability, which he basically personifies.
Ariadne - red. Symbol of desire and curiosity which she has a lot of.
Saito - black. Symbol of power, which he basically personifies.
Yusuf - silver. Symbol of technology, which he works with.

I can see how some people might think this film got too much praise and was overhyped because, in the end, it's a story that's been attempted before, notably in "Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind" and that movie had more emotion than Inception but i still think the shear scope of the film makes it worth watching. But I must say that i've only watched it 3 times on DVD since it came out and i have watched The Dark Knight about a billion times so that should tell you which of the two i prefer.

I actually love it more and more with every viewing. Not the best Nolan"s movie but really great!

Definately an inventive idea based around a conventional (but under-used) heist plot.
Still a gigantic success.
