A short film made by students at Aalborg University, Denmark.

A man receives a disturbing call. He walks through his appartment and tries to forget the loss. However as he slowly begins to realize what he needs to do, everything leads back to the call.

I hope you guys enjoy it (even though you might not get everything).

Oh and hi to everyone on the forum. This is my first post!

Right...
Sure as hell can't hold down a job. Not too many professions out there that value forgetfulness. Prostitution, maybe. Politics, of course.

You're on!

So LasseHansen, what exactly is the story behind this?

The story behind this movie is a concept about "you can't move forward with your life without a recognition of the past".
The man receives (as I wrote in the description) a disturbing call - which probably has something to do with the pictures. When he lays the pictures upside down, he symbolically wants to forget about what he just heard. Which leads him to writing stuff down on a paper that he can't finish. Instead he get this feeling of déjà vu and wants to leave this "world" - which he obviously can't since he hasn't delved with the call. Therefore he walks back to the table and begins to experience everything the other way around (Vice Versa).

The thing about this movie is, that the more you analyze, the more details you recognize. The sentence he writes is a palindrome, which was the main idea of this movie. The picture on the wall is a rorschach which like the palindrome can be cut in two pieces with the exactly same thing on each side. The same goes (almost) for the music.

Funny how easy it is to make money on a bet. :)

I'm not the right guy for this kind of movies. I need a descent explained plot.

Well the whole point of the movie is that almost nothing is explained - only when you look for the answers.
Thank you for answering anyway. You might see something less weird from me in the future!

When he takes off his glasses at the beginning, I was expecting a parody of 'Hitler Reacts to ___'.

..needless to say, your establishing sequence was poorly constructed, and it's hard to appreciate the rest of the short when your first impression is skewed.

Also, subtlety for the sake of subtlety isn't artistic, it's just weak. Don't tell your viewers they have to analyze everything simply because you couldn't come up with a cohesive plot. ;)

I'm sad you feel that way. Can I ask - why do you think the establishing sequence is poorly constructed? I am only asking because I want to do better in the future.
And I can tell you that it is not subtlety for the sake of subtlety. The point of this blurriness is to create a kind of dreamy world. It should somehow underline the fakeness of the place he is in.
There is (as you say) almost no plot, which is the point. Almost nothing is being given away to the viewer, not even a background story - just som action. We (the students who did this short) wanted to try giving much of these details in the action as possible. We wanted to try doing a piece (not neccesarily a good story) based on the definition of a palindrome. Basically we wanted to try something different.

I appreciate your criticism. :) This is the first film I (and the rest of the guys behind it) have ever done.
