Nolan set to produce "Batman 4"

Speculation and discussion about Christopher Nolan's possible and confirmed future projects.

Nolan set to produce "Batman 4"

Christopher Nolan needs to release himself from the influence of WB. These birds of prey are going to steal his soul if he stays with them.
A new Batman, just after the end of his trilogy? This is an insult! :brick:
Syncopy Productions needs to grow fast so that Nolan can realize what he wants.
You will see tremendous things, some of them frightening. But they won't be real. Cordwainer Smith, The Dead Lady of Clown Town.

I can see Syncopy becoming a major motion picture industry. 8-)
But I can also see many flaws with that idea.
And being with WB is better than being with Fox/Disney.

If he produces Batman Beyond and someone else directs it, that might work.
It could be a mixture of a reboot and a continuation (similar to First Class). WB might not screw THAT up.

A Batman film set in the future? It wouldn't be that great. In fact, it wouldn't be good at all.

Have you ever watched the show? That's what people said about the cartoon, but it still kicks a** today.

Yeah, I liked the cartoon. But I can't see it working as a film, and defiantly not so soon after Nolan's franchise.

Nolan set to produce "Batman 4"

This is awful :(

I'd like to see more directors take the George Lucas approach and buy the rights to their franchises. I firmly believe that DC will want to protect batman after the inevitability that this does down as one of the best trilogies of all time.
As unlikely as it is, as a batman fan, nothing would make me happier than to wake up one morning and see that Nolan has brought the rights to Batman.

Based on the fact that WB is reportedly "not pleased by the ending" and the oft-repeated speculation that Bruce Wayne could die in TDKR

I'm going to go with the theory that this "reinvented/rebooted" Batman is in fact the beginning of the Dick Grayson trilogy in the existing Nolan-verse. Obviously the origin would have to be highly reinvented (sans "Robin/Nightwing"), but I think I would actually be okay with this.

It makes since in my eyes. Nolan will feel that Bruce Wayne's story has been told and he can move on forever. WB can start a "new Batman" in the established universe with a new director and an entirely new characterization (leading right into TJL). They would call it a "reboot/reinvention" if they were trying to avoid spoiling such a shocking ending to TDKR. It would actually be refreshing to explore a non-Bruce Wayne Batman on film. And of course, if the new director screws it up Nolan can easily wash his hands of it. He was just there to give some advice on the restrictions of his universe and pay the bills. Whatever taint would be left on the Dick Grayson arc by TJL would be highly unlikely to hurt Nolan (who will be meanwhile creating something so magnificently genius we'll be far from concerned by WB's new Batman).

You people are being too dramatic, seriously.

Nolan's relationship with WB is a household, not something that will "take his soul" (wtf?!). I mean, if we got the Batman trilogy and Inception is all thanks to WB and the faith it's put and is still putting in Nolan, and it's the only major I want to see him work with. Much better than Fox, Disney, Sony and many others. Even if Syncope grows, having a legendary studio like WB promoting and financing your movie is always an advantage.
Plus, Nolan is not the ONLY director that can tackle Batman. His take is so far my absolute favorite and I doubt I'll find another one that I'll choose over it, but if Chris is producing the next installment there's a good chance he'll be involved in picking the new director, and then just leave him to it as he did with Supes.
I'm actually curious, though Batman4 is gonna be made too soon after the end of the current trilogy, to see some talented filmmaker propose his vision of Batman, because there are so many that would work marvelously on the silver screen.
