some of the anti journalist takes....yikes
Now, now... Anti specific sort of journalism. You can't compare Mark Kermode with a clickbait seeker and, on the far end, paparazzo.

The real problem of those who heavily disliked this movie is that it's both a mass crowd pleaser, critics darling, box office success and now even awards worthy. There's nowhere to go but to complaint about every minor thing, inside the movie and outside of it. Suddenly, a questionable behavior of a celebrity rattles the cages. Often times it won't.

There's also a pesky option to just move onto other movies in life and enjoy the more positive discourse.

But, Coca Cola bad.
Seems like a pretty fair and level headed statement to me.

Are you like gonna throw another tantrum, hurl insults at me, and then leave for a few months or something?
The only one throwing a tantrum here is you.

m4st42-d2 is a simple man. He likes comic books. He likes superhero movies. He likes when comic book films expand and explore new territory even when they’re not perfectly executed. The dude’s been like this ever since I’ve been here. Yes, I like to jab at him when he starts nerding out and hyping the fuck out of shit like Venom and TASM2, but I have to admit that comic book movies have come a long way. I honestly enjoyed Marvel phase 3 more than the new Star Wars movies.

There’s no ulterior motive here. There’s no hidden agenda. He’s not a facist incel getting ready to enslave women and ‘people of color’. He’s just regular dude who enjoys a popular movie that’s honestly pretty cool.

Leave him the fuck alone.

Let’s not just simplify m4 to just liking comic book stuff though and nerding out on that. He has a wide range of taste.

I just don't think you can engage with the logic of this movie and agree with it without contradicting yourself in the process. It's that confused. Before it came out leftist media went hysterical over this film for the wrong reasons, until some of it fell in love with it when it became clear that it is also leftist, but even that case is paradoxical because it's more classically leftist as opposed to neo-liberal, so essentially you got modern liberals liking something they think criticizes their ideological opponents while it also criticizes them too. Then you have a lot of alt-right and sometimes centrist media/audiences who love it even despite its almost Bolshevik overtones, which is just all kinds of "unholy union" to me. I can't not enjoy certain aspects of it but the above alone is enough of a reason for me to not like it. The only consistent thing about it is the persuasiveness of its empowerment, which is why people on both sides love it so strongly, but this also exposes them both as hypocritical in a way that robs one of faith. One side cheers because it says "F. capitalism" and the other because it says "F. ideals/structure/society", so profound right. And I guess some other kind of movie could have inspired faith in the individual in the cases when those two fail, but this isn't the one, considering what the masses of "individuals" do in Joker.
