Another neoliberal Democrat announces their candidacy. All surface, no substance. We've seen this movie already.

Democrats need to stop playing the purity politics. The democratic nominee may not be someone you like and it may not be someone you agree with 100%. But they sure as hell will be better than Trump.

If Sanders wins the nomination (not a given but anything's possible), I hope everyone who's telling left-wingers to fall in line for the sake of unity right now will do the same for Sanders. I'm sure that people will totally not find some stupid excuses not to do so at that moment. I'd be happy if Warren or Sanders won the nomination because they are much closer to where the Democratic base is right now in terms of policy.

Being better than Trump is the lowest of bars ever.

Whatever happened to picking the lesser of the two evils?

Did I say that people shouldn't support the Democratic nominee? We all agree that any Republican is worse but that does not mean that the Democratic voters should just settle for any candidate that announces their participation in the election in the primaries. Biden, Harris, Klobuschar, Booker have all TONS of issues that make it difficult to support them in the primaries. In the general election, people should support the Democratic nominee for sure. That does not mean that the Democratic nominee is going to represent good polices by default. The lesser of two evils means that they're less awful than the alternative but that can still be pretty terrible.

Why would they not do the same for Sanders? What is your point here?

No candidate is going to be perfect. That's just a face of life. Yes people can critique and people can discuss their past mistakes but Democrats need to stop doing purity tests with candidates. Republicans voted in a literal rapist while we're over here bitching about a former prosecutor who just wanted to make sure kids were going to school.

We will lose again if we keep acting like asshats.

As a non-American, my opinion sorta doesn’t even matter here, but it’s not like I ultimately disagree with you. I’m mostly pro-Sanders. People shouldn’t just settle for anybody NOW.

But if these debates outstay their welcome and people once again end up voting for the opposite or don’t vote at all because they’re pissy about the Democrat candidate, then you just get Trump again. Sometimes the most morally and ideologically fit candidate isn’t all that fit if it doesn’t boost the chances of a win. Just get Trump off the stage. Then the real work begins.

Cory Booker has my vote now 'cause he's dating Rosario Dawson.
