It has been suggested that we make a thread used strictly for updates. So basically, whenever there is a bit of new news out - photo, tv spot, poster, viral marketing, interview - you can post that in here. There will be no discussion in this thread - that will all happen in the respective threads.

This way people won't have to search through 20 pages of the trailer or poster threads to find the latest original update.

So here are the rules:

1. Only new updates may be posted.
2. No duplicate updates.
3. No discussion/comments.
4. Link to the original source of the update.

5. If you want, link to the respective discussion thread at the end of the post.

This could be really helpful and cool if we make it work guys, so please participate and participate properly. Think about it, whenever there is new news, you will know because there is a new post in this thread!

Thanks. Please send any question or suggestions via PM or post them in the Suggestions and Comment section of the board.

Next Christopher Nolan Film to Open in July 2020
Christopher Nolan's next movie is slowly coming into focus.

Warner Bros. announced Friday that Nolan's next film will open in Imax on July 17, 2020.

The project is described as an event film, but nothing else is known about Nolan’s latest venture. The writer-director has a propensity for secrecy, writing his scripts away from any prying eyes. Furthermore, he is of such a stature that he can attract the actors he wants, package his project with thespians and then present it to a studio with what amounts to a simple yes or no question: Are you in or are you out?

The filmmaker is coming off of the World War II film Dunkirk, which won three Academy Awards and earned the filmmaker his first best director Oscar nomination. The Warner Bros. film grossed $526.9 million globally.

The release date makes sense for Nolan, who has a predisposition for July releases. Of the filmmaker’s last five movies, four have opened in that mid-July sweet spot, including 2008's The Dark Knight, 2010's Inception, 2012's The Dark Knight Rises and 2017's Dunkirk. Interstellar was the exception, opening in November of 2014.

John David Washington Cast in leading Role
Christopher Nolan has tapped “BlacKkKlansman’s” John David Washington to star in his next “event film,” sources tell Variety.

Nolan recently finished the script for the movie and Warner Bros. quickly dated it for July 18, 2020 — a slot the studio often reserves for the director, most recently with “Dunkirk.”

The gig has become one of the more highly coveted in town, even though most of the industry has been kept in the dark about who has been meeting for the role and what the movie is even about.

Although rumors are swirling that the film is a romantic thriller in the vein of “North by Northwest,” sources have denied those claims, keeping plot details under lock and key. One insider described the pic as a massive, innovative, action blockbuster, which will again be shown in Imax.

Nolan is also producing along with his partner Emma Thomas. Production is set to commence later this year.

After breaking out in Dwayne Johnson’s hit HBO series “Ballers,” Washington is coming off a monster year on the film side, starting with his starring gig in “BlacKkKlansman,” which won best adapted screenplay at the Oscars. The role earned him rave reviews, as well as Golden Globe and SAG nominations for best actor. Washington also had strong performances in “The Old Man & the Gun” and “Monsters and Men.

Elizabeth Debicki Joins Christopher Nolan’s Next Film
Elizabeth Debicki and Robert Pattinson are on board to co-star with John David Washington in Christopher Nolan’s next movie, Variety has learned.

Nolan recently finished the script for the currently untitled film and Warner Bros. quickly dated it for July 17, 2020 — a slot the studio often reserves for the director, most recently with “Dunkirk.” Not only was that film a success at the box office, bringing in $526 million worldwide, but it also earned Nolan an Oscar nomination for director, his first in the category.

Christopher Nolan Taps 'Hereditary' Editor Jennifer Lame for His New Movie
For the first time in a decade and a half, Christopher Nolan will have a new picture editor.

Jennifer Lame, who last worked on horror indie hit Hereditary, has been tapped to serve as editor on Nolan’s newest project, an untitled action adventure that is to star John David Washington, Elizabeth Debicki and Robert Pattinson.

Nolan’s main man has been Lee Smith, the Australian editor who first collaborated with Nolan on 2005’s Batman Begins. That began a relationship that last through The Prestige, The Dark Knight, Inception, The Dark Knight Rises, Interstellar and most recently, Dunkirk. Smith won an Oscar for the 2018 movie, as well as the American Cinema Editors’ Eddie Award, and gathered a nomination for Dark Knight.

Smith, however, is unavailable because he just stepped onto 1917, the World War I epic being made by Sam Mendes, with whom he previously worked with on the 2015 James Bond movie, Spectre.

Entering the Nolan arena is a major movie for the WME-repped Lame, who has spent most of her career in the world of small-budgeted dramas and has been the go-to person for Noah Baumbach. She has worked with the filmmaker since 2012’s Frances Ha as well as on While We’re Young, Mistress America, The Meyerowitz Stories and his latest project, an untitled feature recently wrapped that stars Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver. Other credits include Paper Towns and Manchester By the Sea, that latter earning her BAFTA, ACE, and Spirit Awards for her editing work.

Little is known about the new Nolan project but sources have described it as a globe-trotting adventure that has shades of the mind-bending nature of Inception but does involve the time continuum.
