Actually I remembered noticing Z being mentioned quite often in here, so I did a quick check now and plenty here are indeed fans. xWhereAmI?, Nomis, MyCocain, Mindheist, antovolk, elemunt as well as Ruth, who sort of liked it, and a couple of more members.£
I'm mistaken then, but obviously in general we're pretty soft on the guy.

He’s not very liked here. I feel like you don’t really like him either?

is gray really liked anywhere? a lot of industry people think there's an emperor's new clothes situation around him, except there's a decent sized group who think he's a genius

i like Z quite a lot btw, but the idea that its brilliant strikes me as strange. each their own.

Cannes loves him. But I don't think he's loved anywhere in America, which is ironic and sad.

does anybody here even really like james gray?

i can't remember a single one of you putting Immigrant or Lost City of Z in your top tens previous years lol

Lost City of Z definitely is one of the best films of last year, but I think I might've listed it in 2016. There were some things unclear with that. Anyway, I loved that film.

We Own The Night, The Immigrant, and The Lost City of Z are all quite good. Those are his movies that I've seen, and he's 3/3 for me.

Some exciting words/teasing from Max Richter in a interview recently : http://www.filmmusicmag.com/?p=19207
I don’t know if it’s multiplex or not, but I am I’m doing a film called “Ad Astra,” which is a really good. It’s a sci-fi for people who like “2001” and “Solaris,” which, which is me! It’s a movie that’s very beautiful and offers tremendous opportunities for music. It’s also very emotional film that’s full of big ideas and it’s fun.

Personally I really liked The Lost City of Z. I could swear I even voted for it when we had our film awards or something

One of the producers of the film talked a little bit about it during a panel at the Comic Con in Brazil, he said that it will have some 2001 and Apocalypse Now vibes : https://gente.ig.com.br/cultura/2018-12 ... xeira.html
And he gave some little interesting story details (however it's not in English).
Brad Pitt is apparently very amazing in it.

And a new interview by James Gray, he talks a little bit about it at the end : https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_cont ... i9e3FxoK9k
He looks very proud and very optimistic/confident about it, it's great to hear that.

He basically gave the plot of the movie.
Spoilers if you don't want to know
Brad Pitt's father (played by Tommy Lee Jones) disappears in space a few years back and he goes in a mission to save him, with a group of astronauts that's going to do the opposite, to kill him.

Z was visually stunning but lacked many of the elements which made the book great. Hunnam was miscast af
