We need to talk about Kingdom of Heaven: Director's Cut instead.

A film actually deserving of being weighed against other classics.

Like most Del Toro, Shape of Water is beautifully done middlebrow. Doubt anyone is going to be talking about it next year let alone in twenty.

With a 13% success rate, The Shape of Water is not a future classic.

Next up: Is Birdman a future classic?

Del Toro has exactly one movie that should be considered a classic, that's about it for him.

True masterpiece. Gladiator modernized the sword and sandals and appealed to the masses (myself included), but KoH:DC elevated a solid historic epic into one for the ages. 🕷
