I think the supermoon has something to do with this.

I'm not that well versed in Earth science...but I'm pretty sure the moon doesn't cause Earthquakes, no matter how close it is.

They say that the whole Pacific plate moved over a line of 600 kilometers about 10 meters further. That is huge!
The coast of Japan is 10 meters closer to the US than before.
