This is delightful mid-tier Wes Anderson. Lack of memorable characters or intense thematic exploration hurts it, but otherwise strong. Likely going to be on top tens come the end of the year, probably including my own.

Middle tier Anderson is still top 10 worthy? What are your thoughts on the critiscm’s with Wes’s representation of Japanese culture?

1.) Clearly.

2.) I think it's insane. Wes' whole thing is reducing popular culture into kitsch. That's exactly what he does here. Easy for me to say as a white American, though.
