To be honest the teaser trailer that's in the cinema is kind of underwhelming compared to inception, interstellar and dunkirk's teasers. No huge spectacle of any kind in it and plus no mega A-list actor.

For these reasons i think the trailer may not come online and that Nolan/Wb is switching their normal marketing tactics and all this teaser is is to get the idea that nolan is making a film in the audience's consciousness.

Saw it in HD in front of Hollywood....like of course it plays so well on the big screen. So glad to have gotten to see it properly given their decision to not seemingly have it online at all.

Yeah literally no one is talking about this online except us (because we'd be talking about it anyway).

I hope that when we get an official trailer online, it will have more footage.

It seems what others have mentioned about films usually *not* needing year-out marketing is probably what got WB to let Nolan have his way here, hell in recent years Nolan is really the only one for whom they've done first trailers that far out. Mostly it's 5-7 months, including the big DC films. Even Wonder Woman 1984, which is mostly in the can, isn't having a year out teaser like they did for the first one but is (according to Patty anyway) waiting until December.

A friend on Twitter mentioned this - what if, for experiment's sake, they didn't do *any* online trailers/minimal online marketing for this...

I really don’t know if that’s a good idea. Especially for a movie this big. You gotta go all the way out.

Man, I used to be into the idea of a studio releasing a film mysteriously (initially at least). No trailers, no visuals and no title. Just the director’s name and a date (day and date release).

This might be one the closest we can get to that concept but I’m not sure I like it after all since I’ve been “watching” production closely.

Then they'd almost certainly be uneducated and asking for an extreme box office flop.

I always thought it was Nolan himself pushing for a year out tease instead of WB because it was incredibly effective at getting as many people to know and anticipate an obscure/original idea as possible. Especially considering how restrained the teasers are.

There is 0 chance the teaser won't be released online. They're probably just letting it run through theaters; I think it's still making the rounds outside the US.

They should release the teaser online already. I went 3 times to the theater and got nothing. It's not like we're not making an effort to see it in theaters. Come on WB stop being such A-holes!
