You know who else I'd add to the list if Zimmer can't return?

Thom Yorke and/or Jonny Greenwood... and/or Radiohead, essentially.

- Nolan is a huge fan of Radiohead, and has cited "Paranoid Android" as one of his Top 10 favorite songs ever.
- Nolan used Thom Yorke's "Analyze" for the end credits of The Prestige.
- Thom Yorke has worked with Hans Zimmer on the score for Blue Planet II.
- Thom Yorke is now writing film scores, having just done Suspiria.
- Jonny Greenwood is already a film composer, having done the scores for Paul Thomas Anderson's There Will Be Blood, The Master, Inherent Vice, and Phantom Thread, as well as We Need to Talk About Kevin and You Were Never Really Here.

That brings my Non-Zimmer list of possibilities to:

- Lorne Balfe
- Ramin Djawadi
- David Julyan
- James Newton Howard
- Tom Holkenborg / Junkie XL
- Benjamin Wallfisch
- Thom Yorke
- Jonny Greenwood
- Radiohead (Greenwood/Yorke/Radiohead)

Out of this entire list, I'd almost prefer a non-Zimmer score for this time around. The possibilities are super exciting.

Not that I want this to feel like a Bond film per say, but there are a couple of epic, almost menacingly building Thomas Newman tracks from Skyfall that feel like they could be on a similar wavelength to the globe-trotting, adventurous, mind bending nature we might come to expect from this film.

Newman's work on the Craig bonds are severely underrated.
I think so too. He brings a real depth of sound that is maybe overlooked by the visuals/cinematography of the films.

Nolan’s behind-the-scenes creative team includes director of photography Hoyte van Hoytema, production designer Nathan Crowley, editor Jennifer Lame, costume designer Jeffrey Kurland, and visual effects supervisor Andrew Jackson. The score is being composed by Ludwig Göransson.

Why no Zimmer though? Is it a creative decision, were there scheduling conflicts or something else?

Hans is scoring 4 major upcoming movies (The Lion King, Wonder Woman 1984, Top Gun: Maverick, and Dune) which I guess has something to do with this.

Now that is an announcement I didn't see coming. I was 100% sure it would be Zimmer. And I don't really know Göransson's work - I saw Black Panther but I didn't really pay attention to the music... I'm arrogant, I guess, but I'm willing to explore his work.
