Inception numbers is very much on the table.

People always overestimates DiCaprio's box office draw back in 2010.

I’m surprised Leo hasn’t returned to action since Inception.

I think this has a chance of Interstellar numbers and that would be a big success for an original film even with a big 200 million dollar budget . If it has an early opening in China and a good promotion it can even make more.

With a black lead, I’m not sure this is doing great in China.

Do you think BP did well in China because it was a black-led superhero kino, or because it had MCU's logo on its promos? And it still dropped 88% in its second week in China and in the end made 100 mill. Which is low for an MCU movie
.

If Nolan can release a movie like Dunkirk to its numbers than a big action movie with an innovative scfi twist will do real well. It can duplicate Inception numbers no matter who the cast is, barring it's a good movie, of course.

Yall are forgetting this releases on the same day as the bobs burgers movie, which will be massive competition. what will people choose, an exceptional movie based on a massively popular franchise or some weird espionage movie from a hit and miss director? the answer is clear, nolan has no chance
