Guess that might be because
they'd want to match the underwater stuff shot in tanks as much as possible with whatever they shot on location

Nolan has visited Denmark a few times with his family.

I'll never forget meeting him at a Elton John concert in Tivoli here in Copenhagen.

Also, his mother's maiden name is Jensen. Nolan is a Dane.

I know he went to DK and watched "Jurassic World" (lmao) with his family in IMAX 3D in CinemaxX in Copenhagen, but didn't know about the Elton John-concert. Cool!

Anyone know what extras casting company Nolan's production team uses for Los Angeles shoots? Central Casting or a different one?

I'd love to try to get on a Nolan set if they're shooting in LA again lol

This guy is supposed to know that IMAX film is more than 250 MP (digital equivalent) yet he asumes its 100 MP and stitching 9 images together for an effective 200 MP image , he thinks , gives him twice the resolution of IMAX film.

There are actually 200 MP digital scans of interstellar film cells that look nowhere near as good.

No. It doesn't work that way. Not to mention there is no 16K display or playback to take advantage of this. Even the latest standards that came out this year only talk about compressed 16K. There is no point in throwing big numbers (20 GB for 5 sec of footage etc.)

Another guy with a 'maybe' for digital enthusiasts. Atleast he admits it's not just resolution. Otherwise, why would you seek to emulate the look of a 50's film.

"In the large format adventure, we are still looking at the possibility to “emulate” a digital “ultra Panavision 70″ format using medium format glass, focal reducers, and a huge anamorphic adapter that is close to the squeeze factor of that format. We hope for a unique epic look that is a reminiscence to Ben Hur."

tl;dr : 70mm is light years ahead of anything digital that'll come out within our lifetime. For TENET, don't settle for anything less.

i disagree, we will see IMAX surpassed both in resolution and latitude in the next 10 ish years, in pure resolution, RED will get there first, but im trusting more in Arri to finally surpass modern film stocks pure latitude and highlight roll off, film reached its peak with IMAX.
