Can anyone watched Dunkirk at the TCL Chinese theater confirm the aspect ratio? Is it mostly 1.43:1 as shown in 70mm IMAX or 1.90:1 as in digital IMAX theaters?
I understand that IMAX laser projector can present 1.43:1 frame. In fact, I've seen Dunkirk at its full 1.43:1 glory at National Air&Space Muesuem in Washington DC.
However, I've read some Reddit comments (see link https://www.reddit.com/r/LosAngeles/com ... 70mm_imax/), claiming TCL Chinese theater is showing Dunkirk at the 1.90:1 ratio. This is from an audience who have seen Dunkirk both at TCL (IMAX with Laser) and CityWalk (70mm IMAX.)
I wonder if other Dunkirk viewers at TCL shared his judgement.
If true, I also wonder if TCL theater's crop trick applies to other features with 1.43:1 sequences like the IMAX version of Batman v Superman.
I personally have expressed myself and complained about them a few times here; long story short, TCL is a LieMax!
Many thanks. Sorry if I broke the rule by opening a new thread. This is my first post here. Still learning.....
Anyway, I did explore the thread you provided before I opened a new post. I went from page 170 backward to about 130 but failed to locate any aspect ratio discussion on the TCL IMAX theater.
Could you kindly direct me to the very page that commented on TCL IMAX's aspect ratio?
TCL Chinese is a large LieMAX. 94 feet wide and 46 feet tall, which is 2.04:1 aspect ratio. Would need to be about 66 feet tall to be a 1.43:1 ratio IMAX screen.

Yeah, I am aware of TCL's screen size. But is it possible that they choose to show a "centered" 1.43 frame with two sides covered by curtains but mange to fill the screen height? This solution seems ridiculous to me since the 2.20:1 scenes would look tiny then.
I am just trying to dig out first-hand experience with this theater's showing of Dunkirk. If the projected image fills the screen horizontally, then it is definitely NOT shown in 1.43:1 aspect ratio.
If that's the case, then comes the question if the digital files for laser projection allows tweak on aspect ratio, which according to a projectionist I know, is not possible.

I didn't mean to sound rude I'm sorry if I sounded like that! I didn't mean you to go through all the pages.
Anyway but no it definitely was NOT in 1.43 because the screen was not completely filled, so I would say 1.90.

Please don't feel sorry. I learnt a lot from this post and am very grateful for all your help!
