oh Ant, I missed the "SECOND" premiere part of this.

Oh, they're both happening on the same day?antovolk wrote:Demand.
Both the IMAX and the Southbank seat around 450 people. If they used the IMAX for the public preview, that means either:
- sharing seats with the premiere which means less tickets in total for both events
- using the IMAX for the public preview only, which means 450 less tickets for the premiere being available. They could instead use the Southbank for the premiere but using the IMAX for the premiere is more attractive because the 'main venue' that's Odeon Leicester Square is already showing it in regular 70mm. Why have two regular 70mm venues for the premiere when you can have a regular 70mm and an IMAX?
And bear in mind - the tickets to the BFI Southbank regular 70mm preview went in two minutes flat.
Does this make sense?
That makes sense, thanks.antovolk wrote:Yes they are.
Because Nolan is evidently only available to do the intro on that day. He'll prob be too busy with interviews and press conferences the other days he and the cast are in London.
And I'm sure Odeon wouldn't want to have the BFI IMAX closed for another day. And because Odeon and not the BFI operate the BFI IMAX, the question of ticket sales becomes difficult. They wouldn't be able to have priority booking for BFI members and the like.
Thankyou so much for this answer. It helps me alotantovolk wrote:The July 13 date is true. As I said earlier, the main red carpet/screening will be at Odeon Leicester Square in regular 70mm, with a second red carpet at the BFI IMAX also expected (in 70mm IMAX). Then the BFI Southbank is having a (now sold out) public preview later that evening in regular 70mm with Nolan introducing.Vader182 wrote:Going to throw it out there that it'll be the BFI. If true, gives them no excuse to do the early screening in 70mm instead of 15/70.jacobj wrote: Is this really true ? And do you know were the event is in London ? And i really wanna attent to the London Premiere

Vader, not sure what you mean by no excuse. The BFI IMAX is gonna be used as part of the premiere like it was on TDKR and Interstellar and BvS so of course the BFI has to use their non-IMAX Southbank venue for the public preview.
The latter. Unless you're in France where they sell general public tickets to premieres all the time (and don't forget the non-premiere special public previews in London and NY) and will do so for the one in Dunkerque, press/premiere events are free invite only. Either through WB publicists if you are press/industry/celeb/'influencer' or competitions on websites or radio. And to public event screenings like the London or NY ones, obviously venues/hosts offer free tickets to press and so on.Shady1 wrote:dumb question time, but do people actually have to purchase a ticket to these press/premier events? Are they paying customers? Or do they just go to hob-knob and then write their reviews or whatever? And if they do pay, is that included in the box office numbers?
I don't want WB or Nolan giving anything away for free.
