I was living under a rock pre-2012. So i wouldn't have known what happened, and i must've misread when i was looking at Inception's oscar wins/nominations.

Making a film that appeals to 15,000 academy members isn't what Nolan is doing, or ever has. This being his most experimental film suggests it'll alienate some of the more simple minded academy viewers. And that's a good thing. If it does gain Oscar traction, great! But don't count on it.
