I think Fox wouldn't mind if Warners want to attach this to Assassin's Creed as well.

Will the rating of their choice of movie to trailer with signal their expected rating of Dunkirk?

I dunno attaching this to AC seems like a risky move. Plus AC certainly doesn't have as big a fan crowd as Star Wars/Harry Potter prequel, and we know WB wants to make sure this gets exposed to as many people as possible.

My guess is either the two of those movies I just mentioned, though Fantastic Beasts seems more likely to be the movie it'll get attached to, because of it being owned by WB and all.

Edit: but then I just found out Beasts will be released in November, while Rogue One will be released in December which is more likely when WB would decide to drop the trailer. Hmmm.

The target audience is important. Assassin's Creed is a hystorical/war movie, so attaching Dunkirk, a hystorical/war film as well, to such a project would be wiser than releasing it alongside science fiction/fantasy like Star Wars.

Assassin's Creed is the definition of a science fiction/fantasy film.

I'd say it's part historic, part science fiction (war - not really, and fantasy is a different realm), so best of both worlds.

Yes, but it is also, on 35%, a hystoric film, which includes such an important hystorical event as the Spanish Inquisition, with at least one warlike battle sequence. So it may be expected that people who are interested in the subject will gonna see this film, rather than all-time sci-fi Rogue One.

Then again, Rogue One will probably be a bigger financial hit than Assassin's Creed.. Which, besides the same people seeing the film over an over again, also means a wider audience to begin with. It would be smart to attach the trailer to Rogue One.

However, we don't know what their plan for the trailer is. Could be same situation as with Inception, which had two teaser trailers imo and a big third one which showed a whole lot more (glad I didn't see that one before seeing the film). And depending on that, they could attach something to either Fantastic Beasts, Assassin's Creed or Rogue One.
