Why can't critics compare Interstellar to 2001 if that's what Nolan's done in virtually every interview he's given for the movie?Jedisunscreen wrote:Any critics who compare Interstellar to 2001 or Gravity should immediately be disqualified.

I'm sure a lot of critics will draw similarities between the two, and there's no problem with that considering Nolan said he took direct influence from it. What really makes me laugh tho is when I'm scrolling through the twitter feed on Interstellar and people are like "So Interstellar is basically Gravity 2?" - oh hey both films are serious dramas in space, they must be the exact same thing!Jedisunscreen wrote:Any critics who compare Interstellar to 2001 or Gravity should immediately be disqualified.
Well, Nolan is frankly doing the film a disservice, no matter the quality. Comparisons dilute the discussion. Any film deserves to be evaluated on its own merits, and not merely in the shadow of its influences.Vader182 wrote:Why can't critics compare Interstellar to 2001 if that's what Nolan's done in virtually every interview he's given for the movie?Jedisunscreen wrote:Any critics who compare Interstellar to 2001 or Gravity should immediately be disqualified.
