The Hobbit trilogy may blow out the LOTR trilogy's earnings. I mean, how much would Return of the King had made if it were released today? Probably a heck of a lot more than 1.1 Bill.
Speaking of doubting earning potential...

So many ass clowns on the internet who were trashing this movie's earning power because they had other agendas - Marvel fans, Joss Whedon ass lover fan boys, Nolan haters - Morons are pretty damn quiet now.

‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Becomes 11th Film In History To Pass $1B Milestone

Meanwhile Warner Bros is insisting that TDKR is only the 11th film to reach $1 billion in its original theatrical run – not the 13th as some charts show. In terms of just 2D films, TDKR moves even higher in the rankings to 5th place since all the others benefitted from 3D premiums.

just because TDKR is 2D doesn't make it special though. You guys act like Avengers, Avatar, Deathly Harrows Pt. 2 wouldn't have made the billion dollar mark without 3D.

Even without the 3D, those films probably outpace the Batman movies. The other ones like Toy Story 3, On Stranger Tides, Alice in Wonderland, etc probably don't make the billion dollar mark without 3D though.

how much could 3d sales possibly be a percentage of Avengers, Avatar, Deathly Harrows Pt.2 total sales? I don't think 1.7 Billion is made up of 3D sales for Avatar.. nor 500 mill for Avengers, or even 300 mill for Deathly Harrows..

you provide no argument :wtf:

you're saying Avengers, which sold more tickets than TDKR domestically and internationally, would not outpace TDKR?
