nine? It's 13 years bro! BB-5 years between I believe->TDK-8 years->TDKR
Whaaa? TDK Is a year after BB. Don't they mention that in the film? Pretty sure The Joker says something like, "Rewind the clocks a year," when he's talking to the mobsters about them being afraid of Batman.
Yeah. The timeline is Bruce's parents die at age 8. Probably around the age of 21, he drops out of college and travels abroad. Age 29, he returns to Gotham. He celebrates his 30th birthday shortly before the League of Shadows' attack on the city. A year later, the Joker plunges the city into chaos and Batman takes the fall for Harvey Dent's crimes.
Batman disappears for 8 more years, before reappearing to fight Bane. He probably turns 40 during The Dark Knight Rises.

Yeah, you're right. I read somewhere it was 5 years and I was wrong. Sorry, bro.

I think it was in some recent storybook where Batman says that he needed new armor after using the original one for five years or something. I remember it confusing everyone.
Is the Crane cameo too forced? Unless we see a scene with Bane releasing a maddened Crane from his cell, and appointing him this "judge," I feel like his cameo may feel kind of forced. It's only a minor worry, but nonetheless. I'd lerv to here your guys' thoughts on it.
"Every man under my command owes me one hundred Nazi scalps. And I want my scalps."
I don't see why anyone feels crane is forced at all. You're thinking about it way too hard. Jonathan Crane is a character that fits organically inside Nolan's Gotham. He's just there. If he wasn't scarecrow and just a random thug that keeps popping up no one would say anything. And yeah the possibility of any character feeling forced can happen. But Nolan is not the type to just force a character. I think part of the idea is to have at least one of Batman's familiar foes be a constant presence in this world making it more real. These guys don't just disappear. I'm sorry I just can't fathom the objection. It's stupid.
Furthermore those parts he has played are obviously not forced or created just for him as you can see they are part of the scene that isn't focused on him. If it wasn't Crane in TDK dealing drugs with Chechen it would have been someone else. If Crane wasn't going to be this judge or whatever in TDKR it would be someone else. So why not use Jonathan fucking Crane if he's available rather than another random character?

I also like the idea of him being just there in Gotham. In a way, it ties the movies together. And also puts to bed the question of, I wonder where X is? Or, what happened to Y? In this case we know. He's there. Still in Gotham. Seeing him in the second movie was a nice surprise, I'm sure he will be in this one too.
he'll be one of the aspects of the franchise that ties the films together. he's the only villain who's turned up in all 3 movies. interesting to know the journey of lesser pivotal but still important characters. from doctor, to inmate, to judge? would also be cool if they use the same courtroom that was used in BB. Plus that new image of him - looks like his unraveling suit that he's probably had all those 8 years has straw coming out of it.

If only we could get him wearing the mask one last time. Oh well..
