Joseph Gordon-Levitt is turning into a triple threat, venturing into big-screen writing and directing.

Gordon-Levitt will make his feature directorial debut with an untitled comedy based on a script he also wrote. He will star in the movie, with Scarlett Johansson playing one of the two major female roles.

Plotlines are not being revealed other than it centers on “a modern day Don Juan and his journey to become less of a selfish dick,” according to Gordon-Levitt’s publicist.

Financing is coming from Voltage Pictures, which is selling international rights in Berlin. Ram Bergman will produce for Ram Bergman Productions in association with hitRECord Films.

Production is set to start in Los Angeles on April 16.

Gordon-Levitt, who grew up before America’s eyes on the sitcom 3rd Rock from the Sun, has turned into a leading man after showing his mature chops on movies such as Brick and (500) Days of Summer.

After starring in the acclaimed 50/50, he’s got four major movies this year. He’s part of Christopher Nolan’s ensemble cast of Dark Knight Rises, stars in the thriller Premium Rush, reteams with Brick director Rian Johnson for Looper and plays Abraham Lincoln’s brother in Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln.

Who would have thought that awkward kid from 10 Things I Hate About You would grow to be such a star. Then again, I'm sure no one thought Dicaprio would be Mr. Hollywood from just seeing Gilbert Grape. It's interesting how things turn out.

Thats an interesting role for him that can have him stretch his imagination. Although it sounds like a romcom we have seen before. Explains why him and ScarJo met for dinner .

There is apparently another female lead role and he met randomly with Amber Heard for lunch... maybe she was considered or will indeed get the part. :eh:

I think it's great he wrote the thing as well. If I was gonna make a film I would prob cast myself as the lead who gets hot chicks as well.

Ha yeah. I was joking really. I still wonder how he is going to fit into TDKR.

It's anybody's guess still at this point. All we know is he spent 7 months filming it along with the rest of the main cast.

director Tomas Alfredson told him “You’ve sort of got to play boring. You can’t BE boring.”
- Gary Oldman on playing smiley

thought id bring this up because i remember we were talking about JGL being stiff in Inception and a few people were arguing that he had to be stiff because thats the character

this is what i was trying to say...JGL was stiff, rather than playing stiff...because if he had played stiff as a character trait, it wouldve been exciting to watch

Oldman was boring in Tinker. Also can't compare Smiley and Arthur in any way shape or form.

He's character was boring, that's what made his performance great.
