yeah there is also that fragment where he throws the batmask away and you hear a low growl like sound. i think thats something that will be much clearer and more used in the movie. the mask screams for a darth vader like breathing/growling noise.

And towards the end of the teaser and Trailer 1, I hear some howling sound. Is that Bane?

it seems like Hardy is doing the crushing psychological gesture in almost every single frame of the movie...whether it's with the eyes, with the head, or with the whole body

does anybody else hear that short grunting/growling sound he makes when he tilts his head, giving him an even more gorilla-like appearance?

it makes sense if his psychological gesture is crushing...because then you want to be relaxing on the inhale to take the world in, and the exhale should be expression of the character...so if the gesture is crushing, the exhale will probably sound like a grunt or growl if the breathe is given sound by the vocal chords

If she could, she would go back to the first screening of the TDK prologue,( study the audience, music, ect.) and then go back to the first screening of TDKR prologue and do the same thing to fairly compare the two. At least, that's what I gathered.

I took it as the moment in the film, not the audience reaction to the moment in the film. Mainly because the audience reaction to both will be the same- dead silence and intense vigilance to the screen, but also because of the below quote. Could be wrong, though.

Im more interested in observing how the music and everything else sets up each individual character with their part in the story

Hey guys:-) Sorry if what I wrote was confusing, to clear it up I'd basically I'd go back and watch each villain as they first entered the scene and study the music, dialogue, and audience reaction relating to the moment in the film:-) The joker's entrance was a little different than Bane's because we only saw the back side of the joker while he was standing on the corner, the first time we really saw his face was when he said " I believe that whatever doenst kill you, simply makes you stranger." I can remember the stunned silence of the audience on that part, now with Bane it's a little similar because again..Nolan hides his face..so there is that anticipation with the audience about what he looks like under that black sheet...( Part of me wishes that there were no pics of Bane's mask until the midnight showing, I can't help but wonder what the affect would be like )

Since I was not in the audience when the prologue aired, I can't really know how Bane's intro hit that particular audience, so I'll have to wait till the midnight premiere to see if I notice anything with the particular audience I'm in. Im not so sure the reaction will be the same as when the joker came on the screen.. I hope I hear people gasp at Bane, but not sure that will happen because of people already knowing what he looks like and knowledge of the prologue...who knows though.....;-) I have no idea if this makes any more sense than what I originally wrote, I hope it does:-)

They'll be compared by idiots. They're two completely different characters. Comparing Heath and Jack Nicholson's different portrayals of the SAME character makes more sense than comparing Joker to Bane. The only people who will compare Heath with Hardy are just doing so to be controversial or are being simple minded. The guy's dead. His Joker was amazing. Let him rest in peace and let Hardy's Bane be Hardy's Bane. Not something that has to live up to another character who's different in almost every way.

so its simple minded idiots who try to be controversial by comparing two actors of different villains in the same universe from the same director... woah.
there is a thread where people compare hathaway with hardy - wich is in my opinion just wrong because their characters got completely different weighting and i wouldnt be so rude to call the posters in it like that.
perhaps you are just emotional and short sighted about this.

bane got his mercenaries and a yet to be revealed agenda beside bringing batman and gotham down.
the joker got his gangsters and his nihilistic ruthlessness for the same goal.
bane got his army through blind loyality.
the joker got his thughs with with fear and terror under control.
their introduction shares similarities even though they are diffrent archetypes.

they have things in common characterwise and its legitimate to compare hardy/bane with ledger/joker about originality, believability and how authentic the character portrayal will be. there is nothing wrong or stupid about it - its just interesting and fun.

I can honestly see both sides of this argument, and understand where each one of you is coming from, but I wouldnt go as far as to say people that debate the performance of Bane and the Joker are simple minded. I can see and understand why to some it makes more sense to compare Nicholson's Joker to Ledger's joker, rather than Hardy's Bane to Ledger's Joker. For me, personally, I think that even though there are some slight similarities between Bane and the Joker, to me they are more different than they are alike, but that is just my opinion. :-)

Love how Hardy expresses everything with every part of his body, even in nonverbal communication and especially his eyes..his eyes are incredible...and...are you all referring to the growl heard in the music of the mtv trailer? the one that sounded like a caged lion?;-) I loved that...If Im misunderstanding you all, please post the link so I can take a listen:-)

i think those are just special effects mixed into the track, but people are confusing them for Hardy grunting/growling..
