Bane's main goal will definitely not be to break Batman's back, LOL! This is not the comics. It's film. Bane will fit organically into the story, and with Nolan saying that it is their interpretation - a NEW interpretation - it will be great and NEW and REAL. So look for something more down to earth - a task force leader or bounty hunter is what I suspect.

No. But I think it could easily be based off of Knightfall in the same way that The Dark Knight was loosely based off of The Long Halloween.

I would really like it to be based off Nightfall!!!

I don't think it's that unrealistic to have a master criminal to keep Batman busy without directly attacking him, while meanwhile discovering his true identity. And in terms of Batman films, they haven't historically been all that organic before Nolan took over, relative to a lot of great story lines from the comic books. Especially in Bane's case: his comic book character is more intelligent and a better villain than anything that's been depicted in TV or film. So I think it's kind of dismissive to say that Knightfall won't influence the script just because it was from "the comics".

And for the record, Bane as a bounty hunter / hitman isn't brand new either. It was done in the animated series.

Don't be ridiculous. Even for a person like me who has not really read comics will understand that Bane cannot appear whatsoever in Mr.Nolan's universe in the way you have said. This is because it is impossible to break a man's back with the forhind of one's elbow, the size of Batman compared to Bane is far superior.

I'm sure Nolan will do something entirely different from what I've said. However, I'm really disappointed with Bane's inclusion hence this thread. I would have preferred Hugo Strange who offers a bit more substance as a villain. Whatever I guess.......

Anyways, I love Hardy as an actor. But I would have preferred another role for him.

For those who know more about Bane than I do, please enlighten me on what storyline could happen. I'm so underwhelm by this Big Van Vader look-a-like. I couldn't possibly see how he could carry an entire movie as the main antagonist. :problem:

I guess so. So what you're saying is that Bane's mission is to simply crack open Batman's back and nothing else, similair to the way Joker only cared about anarchy?

Oh, will probably be money or some silly childhood vendetta. Hollywood can't come up with a fresh story to save their lives.
