In the novel how does Barsad, if it mentions his death because i haven't gotten to that bit yet?

Well, I don't know about the novel. but, I think he got shot by Foley.

It does not mention his death. As Neizar posted, in the movie we are led to believe Foley shot him.

Does he die in the film? if so, by whom and when does it happen? I have seen TDKR only twice so far, as recently as the past sunday, and I didn't notice him die in either viewing.

Yes. he dies in the background bringing Talia to the tumbler. I think Foley or another cop shoots him. Its a blink and miss thing. :(

Ah ok, thanks mate! I'll try to remember that the next time I see it.

Also, I thought the actor and character were both great. I remember a couple scenes where he and Bane seemed to have good chemistry.

Yeah, i think Barsad deserved more scenes, even if he was just in the background.
