For one Nolan completely fumbled the ball on this one. This was completely unrealistic as Hines Ward is at the tail end of his career and is not a kick returner. He is very slow for his position in the NFL and he would not be able to out run the entire defense for a touchdown much less one player. In Madden he has probably a 78 - 81 as his speed rating. In real life he would definitely have fell into the ground collapse and not have turned around looking down at the mess.

PLOT HOLE! :o :o This Nolan guy doesn't seem to have any idea of what he's doing. :judge:

This is hilarious!

Another "reason" Nolan dropped the ball by casting Ward. The scene is being filmed in the Pittsburgh Steelers stadium, and the stadium is full of rabid Steeler fans as extras. Now, if Nolan really wanted to film a great crowd reaction, why would Nolan cast pick Ward of all people? I mean, as one Pittsburgh writer noted, "arguably no player is cherished and beloved by Steelers Country so universally as Hines Ward. Rarely is the identity of a player, as well as his style of play, in complete and utter harmony with ideals of the franchise for which he plays. The black and gold way is a physical manner of play, steeped in the proud tradition of winning without compromising integrity and hard work."

What was Nolan thinking? Nolan never tells us.

This isn't necessarily a plot hole but why
do all the cops just run straight at the mercs with guns? All of their training and common sense would tell them to use their tactical training to gain an advantage instead of running straight towards them. It's practically suicide. I think I understand the symbolism of the scene, the police are standing up for Gotham and willing to confront evil head on, but it's just feels so unrealistic.

also (not a spoiler since it's in the trailer):

Why does the dude who's with Bruce in the prison (the one who says, "Rise") sound like AND LOOK LIKE Alfred??? Is this supposed to be some subconscious thing Nolan is doing, that he wants us to metaphorically think about Alfred? If so, that actually seems pretty weak because it diminishes the surprise-factor when we finally see Alfred later on.

I think it stems from the first time I saw the trailer. When he says, "Rise" he is kind of blurred out and I always thought Nolan was going to have both Bruce and Alfred in the prison-well.

Obviously, after seeing the movie, we all know it wasn't him. But I still was reminded of him throughout all those scenes. You're telling me they couldn't pick another prisoner who wasn't 1)stout like Alfred 2) had short grey hair like Alfred 3) sounds like him with a British accent?

I sort of agree. He did remind me of Alfred. Not just his facial features. Also him and the other guy you can sort of look at them as a single character who helps Bruce rise. Maybe those 2 are an amalgamation of Alfred. Especially the face that guy had when Bruce finally escaped. Maybe something that they said mirrored what Alfred said before he left Bruce.
