No 3D

Post The Silent Guardian May 8, 2010, 4:12 pm

Hello everyone

This is my first post on thise site. I have just recently become a massive Nolan fan. I am not going to go into too much detail about myself. Just know that my favorite film of his is The Dark Knight.

Now I have been following Box Office for a long time, and one of the things that is starting to develop is a 3D fad, it seems every big blockbuster is at least considering 3D as an option. However it seems Nolan is really against it. I just wanted to know what are your thoughts on this?

Would you like to see Nolan shoot in 3D or not.

Personally 3D is fun, but I would rather have Nolan tackle IMAX, it seems that is his goal anyway.

If he wants to make a 3D film then I'm not going to stop him.

I personally think that this 3D (RealD) is an infection. 3D removes the focus of what films are really about, the good story. All of the sudden it is important if things are coming out of the screen or not. If 3D becomes a must (which it will not) it will also make it harder for upcoming and low budget films to compete. Besides that, the technological part is still so corny and rough that it looks ridiculous.
But tbh im pretty calm about it, all this childish 3D has been here before, back when it was the old 3D, it didn't last then, and it will not last this time. It just confuses me that there is so many people, reviewers and magazines around the world who is so blind to see how little this new invention will do for us. I see films as an art. And why this 3D infection will not take over is because the real artists, (as Chris) does respect their art. Btw. if there is one thing i hate more than RealD, it is Post-production RealD. I mean seriously. it looks pathetic.
- But thats just me, and i could be wrong.

If i wanna see 3D i go to Disneyland.

Agreed. IMAX blows 3D out of the water in terms of experience. I'm surprised it isn't as popular as 3D
