The Hollywood Reporter recently announced that the Slamdance Film Festival, originally conceived as a sorta anti-Sundance, will be giving its first-ever Founder’s Award to Christopher Nolan this year. Now considered one of the most successful directors of all time, Nolan’s career practically started at Slamdance when he screened Following, his first feature film, at the 1999 festival.
Peter Baxter wrote:“Throughout his incredible successes, Christopher Nolan has stood firmly behind the Slamdance filmmaking community. We are honored to present him with Slamdance’s inaugural Founder’s Award”
Nolan accepted the award in a statement thanking the festival for giving him his first chance to connect with audiences.
Christopher Nolan wrote:“Slamdance continues to provide an important forum for emerging filmmakers and I’m proud to be part of their history”
The writer/director/producer will be honored at the Slamdance Film Festival headquarters in Park City. Read the rest of the exclusive over at THR.
