According to The Wrap, David Oyelowo and David Gyasi have joined the cast of Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar. Oyelowo, who starred in Lincoln and Rise of the Planet of the Apes, recently played opposite of Interstellar lead Matthew McConaughey in Lee Daniels’ The Paperboy. Meanwhile, Gyasi worked with Nolan on The Dark Knight Rises, and has recently appeared on The Walking Dead and Doctor Who, in addition to playing multiple roles in last year’s Cloud Atlas.
This news comes in light of recent comments about the apparent lack of diversity in the film’s casting. Nothing has been revealed about either role, which is pretty standard for a Nolan film, and more or less matches what we’ve learned about cast mates Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Michael Caine, Casey Affleck, Bill Irwin, Ellen Burstyn, Mackenzie Foy, Timothee Chalamet, John Lithgow, Topher Grace, and Wes Bentley.
Interstellar starts principle photography next week in Alberta, Canada.
