Christopher Nolan's Interstellar Adds Topher Grace

Topher Grace is in talks for a supporting role in Christopher Nolan's Interstellar, according to Deadline. The That 70s Show star most recently appeared in The Calling, and can next be seen in an upcoming romantic comedy titled A Many Splintered Thing. For those of you playing along; Grace is yet another American actor joining the predominantly American cast.
Many have also noted that Grace is yet another Caucasian actor in what appears to be, so far, a completely Caucasian cast. Christopher Nolan's casts may not be the most diverse in Hollywood, but they do have a respectable amount of diversity. Morgan Freeman, Ken Watanabe, Dileep Rao, Alon Aboutboul, Daniel Sanjata, and Colin McFarlane, to name a few, have played sizable roles in Nolan's many films.
But with Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Michael Caine, Casey Affleck, Bill Irwin, Ellen Burstyn, Mackenzie Foy, Timothee Chalamet, John Lithgow, and now Topher Grace as the only announced roles; Interstellar stands to be Nolan's least diverse cast since the period film The Prestige. So what gives? Could this be somehow related to the plot, or just a glaring oversight?
