For the first time since its debut in 2011, Jonathan Nolan’s hit drama series Person of Interest can be watched via digital download on iTunes and Amazon. Winner of the 2012 People’s Choice Award for Favorite New TV Drama, the show follows former CIA agent John Reese (Jim Caviezel) and reclusive billionaire Harold Finch (Michael Emerson) as they set out to prevent violent crimes with high tech surveillance and their own brand of vigilante justice. Executive producer J.J. Abrams touts the new digital downloads as a way for fans to catch up on the first two seasons before the third season airs this fall on CBS.
“We are all excited that new and existing fans of Person of Interest can finally catch up with the first two seasons.”
- J.J. Abrams
“We’re thrilled that a new audience will be able to catch up on the story so far — and then buckle up for our third season.”
- Jonathan Nolan
The massively popular series eerily predicted aspects of the recently revealed PRISM surveillance program. In the show, Reese and Finch prevent violent crimes using high tech surveillance — aka the Machine — that can identify people soon to be involved in violent crimes. Tapping into ubiquitous surveillance feeds throughout the city, the two work outside of the law. The first two seasons do address the ethics such a program, albeit in a network TV sorta way. Perhaps recent events will influence upcoming seasons, but until then…

Both seasons of the show are available in high definition on iTunes andAmazon, as well as other digital video retailers. That’s 45 episodes in total, which will individually retail for $1.99 (SD) and $2.99 (HD). Complete seasons expected to retail for $39.99 (SD) and $49.99 (HD).
