In addition to all of those, I think I recently mentioned "Macabre." It's basically my own supernatural/horror version of Inception, for it involves something a tad similar to extraction, 'xcept what you're trying to take out is something else... something evil.... I'll tell you this: VERY psychological, VERY horrific.

To MW715: Actually, I didn't really like Dark City. It had a strong plot going, but I felt the last act was too superhero/messiah cliche. The effects could have been better, so could the sets and cinematography. I mean, I didn't HATE it, but I would never sight that as an inspiration.
For Interdimensionals, I was inspired by Inception (of course), Minority Report (for the theme of free will vs. fate, b/cause fate is gonna be a big part of the story) and District 9.

Interdimesionals kinda reminds me of the old sci-fi show "sliders" or even the film "The One" Sliders was cool up until the third season and The One was more atkin to a Matrix cash in but has some nice action set pieces. I'd suggest watching them if you haven't already. Your idea of how these aliens can manipulate the mind sounds very intriguing, I'd like to hear more about it.

To Avenuewriter: The idea for the aliens is that they can basically do whatever they want with you, mind-wise. It's kind of like demonic possession, and there is a sort of "exorcism", if that's what you want to call it, to sort of make them release their hold on you. Most of my films have Christian undertones, since I am a Christian.

To MW715: Each amazing in their own special way :D

UPDATED LIST OF FILMS/IDEAS:

Demon -- psychological horror with themes of isolation, the importance of faith and the reality of physical evil. It's a very Christian film, albeit a not-so-happy ending. I was influenced by films like Paranormal Activity and The Ring.
Plot: A woman tries to cope with an evil force that tries everything to keep her inside her own home.
Rated R for disturbing images and violence

Macabre (aka The Reaper) -- psycho-fantasy horror film set in the contemporary world. Inspired by M. Night Shyamalan's films, particularly The Sixth Sense and The Village
Plot: A troubled man experiences sinister hauntings that don't seem to be from ghosts in his home as he attempts to discover who he really is. The truth, however, is much larger than he would have ever thought.
Notes: The film is pretty Christian in nature (as will be my other films)
Rated R for disturbing images, violence/terror and some language

Incognito -- psychological thriller/drama with influences from Memento, Seven and Shutter Island.
The plot: A psychologically disturbed criminal attempts to discover the truth about his incarceration in a prison for the criminally insane, while evading the staff who are so keen in keeping him outside the prison walls.
Notes: You'll REALLY see the Christian messages and themes in this one.
Rated PG-13 for some disturbing thematic material, intense images and violence

The Interdimensionals -- psychological sci-fi action thriller that deals with the fragility and manipulation of the mind through external means. Influenced mostly by Inception, District 9 and Minority Report.
The plot: A team of Crossers (humans who have the ability to cross through wormholes without being torn to shreds) attempt to discover a planet called Morpheus in another dimension for a ruthless organization. What they find will change their lives, and their very minds, forever.
Notes: Psychological yes, and it does feature a sort of alien species. I'll only give a minor detail: they have technology to "re-calibrate" one's brain function, meaning they can do whatever the hell they want to you, from removing brain cells at will to giving you a mental disorder like schizophrenia.
Rated PG-13 fro intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action and some disturbing images

Full Moon Syndrome -- a two part epic psycho-fantasy/horror that deals with the psychology of werewolves. I was inspired by epics such as Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy, Christopher Nolan's Batman films and Memento, and Gladiator.
The plot: In a steampunk neo-Victornian world where strange creatures are shunned from society, a young werewolf undertakes a mind- terrifying journey to defeat the evils of the world he lives in.
Notes: To me, the films are basically a retelling of Jesus Christ, from his death to his resurrection, since this film is VERY Christian in nature.
Rated PG-13 for sequences of intense violence and war violence and frightening and disturbing images

Forever Midnight -- dystopian science fiction war drama, influenced by the films of Steve Spielberg (Saving Private Ryan, E.T.), James Cameron (Aliens, The Terminator), and Ridley Scott (Alien, Black Hawk Down).
The plot: The last remnants of the human race fight against a race of alien species in their fallen world.
Notes: This (to me) is going to be a unique vision of this tired genre, since me and my co-writer (yes, this would be my first co-writing film) are going to be looking at both sides of the spectrum, not just the biased side of one, if you know what I mean.

I'd be really interested in seeing what you guys come up with for this one ;) Hollywood's been needing a new angle for that genre for the past 30 years.

Yeah, me and my friend are working almost aimlessly to develop this world. We just want to show that it's not all about the humans either.

I think we got that with Battlefield: Earth!

To Erik: Battlefield: Earth was a joke. I'm hoping ours (which is gonna hopefully run about three hours) will turn the alien invasion genre around.
