Was Eames gay?

I actually didn't notice until i read your post and then watched the scene again. You're right, his expression while saying that is kinda strange.. Of course this could just be random, and straight men can have bad relatioships with their dads too... But i have to say. There's something in that scene. Don't know what, but there is.

Just to be clear, i'm not saying this means he's gay. It could be so many thíngs.. But seriously, watch that scene again. The facial expression on both characters, and Eames' sudden change of subject. Very subtle, but it's there. I'm fascinated... Thanks OP, another reason to love this film

I don't see his behavior as homosexual. He's just very playful in his nature. He jokes and teases. Just a character who is very charming and extrovert. I've always noticed the bit about the father, but I just took it as Tom Hardy hinting a complicated relationship that Eames has with his father. What those complications are, are impossible to tell, nor is it necessary to be able to tell...just the fact that Hardy added that nuance there makes the performance richer.

That could also be a possibility:) Come to think of it, we never get to know much about these characters, exept Cobb. So i think people are gonna project (no pun intended) what they want onto them. I would like to think there's more to the father-talk and also to the tension between Arthur and Eames.... Maybe some major differences and a falling out in the past, it could be the smallest reason in the world. But i just like to analyze, and no matter how much we think about it, that was never supposed to be the focus of the film. The main character was:)

I understand what you mean:-) I love analyzing and studying characters. Especially with all the characters in Inception, they are all interesting so you cant help but wonder about their background when so little is shown and you have such an ethereal subject matter, it's intriguing:-)

Couldn't agree more :) I like that Nolan doesn't throw their backstory's in our faces. And yet, they're still very intriguing and it's all due to those subtle tones and relations and small snippets that gives you an idea who they are:)

The title immediately reminded me of the scene where he posed as a hot babe and flirted with Fischer, and then later in elevator with Saito before he got pushed off when Saito knew it was him.

Is he gay? If Nolan's intention was for the character to be gay then I think he would've made it clear, so I'm gonna go with I don't think so.

Yeah all these things make Eames gay. I know the blond woman was part of the plan but he was still doing it. IDK, he was kinda "flurtaciouse" with Arthur.

I personally don't think it matters if he is homosexual or not, I understand how some people may read into it and wonder about it, but personally I took his character for nothing but a charming, and as the Brits say 'cheeky', handsome, and intelligent player of the Inception game;-) However, for all of you out there wondering was he or wasn't he gay, I'm surprised you didnt also wonder if he was bisexual ;-)

Yeah, it doesnt matter really atall. Someone just created this thread to learn more about the complex characters of Inception. Any sign of homosexuality is pointed out. :P
