Still a gigantic success.

I felt like Nolan didn't push the plot to make it look like a heist film. It was more like a team on a mission. It was kind of undermining the tagline 'Your Mind Is the Scene of the Crime'.

Nolan never went overboard with the idea that it was a pure 'heist' movie. If they do, it results in silliness and subsequently, comedy (ocean's eleven, the sting) he did -not so much a twist- but a rebranding of the heist film.
But essentially, it was a heist film. Nolan just had various elements to hide it.

Just re-watched this today and it's still extremely immersive and uniquely composed, deliberately developed and expertly crafted. My friends and I also noted quite a few homages to Kubrick--subtle yet symbolically relevant. Inception manages to be contemplative while satisfyingly entertaining. 9.75/10

Like which? I'm assuming you're referring to things other than the spinning hallway and hospital in the fortress.

The part where Leo's hand slips off the arm rest on the plane reminds me of the part in 2001 where that one dude (don't know his name) is asleep and his arm is floating above the arm rest.
The original concept for the film was to make a movie about a man who wants to fight God.
