What is the diff between a projection and the subconcious?

This 2010 contemporary sci-fi actioner follows a subconscious security team around the globe and into the intimate and infinite world of dreams.

I know a projection is a person/s created by the dreamer and they attack like white blood cell to find out the 'invader'. Subconsius?

Projections is part of the subconcious, they are its defence system.
