David Fincher doesn't seem to be doing Rendezvous With Rama anytime soon, so I say Nolan should take it.

American Jesus by Mark Millar (I hate the guy, but you can't argue with his writing)
Sergeant Hartman: Oh that's right, Private Pyle, don't make any fucking effort to get to the top of the fucking obstacle! If God would have wanted you up there he would have miracled your ass up there by now, wouldn't he?!

I've mentioned in the "Science Fiction" thread that I'd like to see Nolan adapt Dune, but that's quite a bit longer book (over 200,000 words) than your average novel.

I think he would be immensely well-suited in adapting Fyodor Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment. Not only is it one of Western Literature's greatest treasures (and one of my top five favorite books, by the by), but it has never received a proper adaption.

Where do I create the petition?

You just have to capture his attention and imagination.

To Kill A Mockingbird - I need a remake.
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - This could be amazing.
War of the Worlds - The book is fantastic and I didn't enjoy Spielberg's direction in the 2005 remake.
Ender's Game - A film version of the book would work, brilliantly.

Ender's Game is already in development. Lionsgate (they're really becoming the big studio, aren't they?) is set to release it in 2013. Gavin Hood, the director of Tsotsi (Best Foreign Language Film Oscar) and X-Men Origins: Wolverine (The...not so acclaimed), is directing.
