Cary Fukunaga wrote:I do think there’s a place to make intelligent, big films... look at people like Chris Nolan, who are making original content that’s also on the big screen. 'Interstellar' and 'Inception' weren't based on anything other than something he wrote with his brother. It’s pretty amazing to have original content be on an IMAX screen or be a tentpole film.
Steven Spielberg wrote:"I love Tim Burton’s Batman films and then — jump-cut way into the future — everything Chris Nolan has touched in Batman, because of the darkness, of what would motivate a character like that, a very rich character, to do the kind of public service work he does."

Tarantino:
“People don’t realize how close we came to losing film last summer,” he says, suddenly still. “It was all going to go away. Kodak almost closed the only plant making 35-millimeter. They were going to close the plant, make a big order and stash it for the next three years before it goes bad and then whatever you make in those three years is what you’ve got. Christopher Nolan is a true, true hero. He corralled everybody. He talked to the studios. He talked to the directors. We got a stay of execution. We got a reprieve. I think it’s all going to work out fine. The idea is that at least it’s able to end up being a boutique option.” He pauses. “Believe me, Kodak wants filmmakers to buy film from them. They’re not coy about the film they want to sell.”

Small praise by Leonardo DiCaprio:
Inception, by Chris Nolan, is pretty mindblowing. How highly do you rate Nolan?

Only one or two other filmmakers would be able to accomplish this film. It’s certainly not something you come across very often. And it really is all Chris Nolan.

A man of wild ambitions, but still just a man.

Not sure if this one has been posted before (it's from a couple of years ago), but here's William Friedkin complimenting Nolan while simultaneously disagreeing with his position on film.

This gentleman is incorrect. I DO NOT bash Christopher
Nolan. He is a great film maker. I disagree with him about
35mm.

Todd Phillips, director of The Hangover and the recent War Dogs.
“My problem is I can’t make a movie that I know nothing about. I’m just not a superhero guy,” he said. “That said, I watched Chris Nolan’s movies and those are up there with the fucking ‘Godfather’ trilogy. For me, he’s the greatest filmmaker and it’s just mind-blowing what he does.”

Makoto Shinkai (the "heir" to Miyazaki), director of the current hit anime Your Name, cites Nolan's Interstellar as an influence.

"Did you have any cinematic influences?
Interstellar by Christopher Nolan. I saw it while I was making this film, and I found quite a few similarities. And there's another movie, from Korea, called The Beauty Inside, which is about a character who wakes up in the morning as a different person every day. So I thought it confirms that what I'm making now is now, it's current. I felt encouraged by other directors because I'm going in the right direction."
