Memento was king for me for a long time but I think Inception topped it. The amount of interesting discussion this film is causing around the country/world and on the Internet is a pretty good indicator that it will be a classic. The ambiguity is amazing and it only holds up because of Nolan's attention to detail throughout the story. He has red herrings for a number of theories as well as plenty of evidence to support a number of theories. It's brilliant, a neverending staircase of an art film disguised as a summer action flick. And I also do not agree with the criticisms of it being unemotional. I was almost in tears during the scenes with Leo and Marion towards the end of the film.

After my first viewing of Inception it might have been towards the middle of the pack of Nolan films. After a second viewing it is my favorite of his and I'm glad at least moviegoers are for the most part, liking it a ton (there were at least a few that saw it again on my second viewing and there was a lot of positive talk at the end of the film).

Damn, I reallly don't know what to vote for here. The Prestige has always been a favourite, but I am still on such a buzz from having seen Inception, and that was two days ago. A thread like this is enough to give me a sleepless night.

So, after some reasoning I decided not to give Inception my #1 spot. I have TDK there.

Inception is an exceptional movie, a true masterpiece, an original film (i haven't seen anything like it).

But, damn, TDK still is my #1.

I won't push the button up there, maybe i need to see Inception more times and maybe I will change my mind.

ps. IMO Inception is the most emotional of all Nolan movies, Memento is the 2nd.

It depends, Inception is much more thought-provoking on just the film, Memento makes you question life around you because
In Memento there is that whole notion of how we rely on memories so much, but how distorted they can truly be.
I am sure Inception does the same, I just haven't found it yet, and what that means is Memento is more philosophical, so do you want thought-provoking and a film that unravels like a maze, or a philosophical arguement for your life.

I'll say I like both equally, but Inception is just so epic, the production budget, and the action pushes it above Memento.

BTW TDK is in between the two.
