Here is some trivia which I hope you will find interesting.

Batman Begins
Nolan offered the role of Ra'as Al Ghul to Viggo Mortensen since he had been a fan of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.
Mortensen however turned it down and Daniel Day-Lewis was later approach for the role. Guy Pearce was also being considered at one point.

Also Nolan seems to be a fan of The Godfather (Carmine Falcone says Hello).

The Dark Knight
During filming on The Dark Knight Nolan apparently screened the following films.
Heat, Citizen Kane, A Clockwork Orange, King Kong and Batman Begins.

Roman Republic
Also Nolan seems to have a lot of references to the fall of the Roman Republic in the film.
The first is when Bruce meets Harvey at the restaurant and Harvey mentions how the Romans would offer unlimited power to a single citizen to guide them through a crisis.

The second reference is when the Joker mentions the location of Harvey and Rachel. He says that Harvey was at 250 W 52st. The other address was Avenue X and Cicero. We know later that he was lying and that Harvey was located at Avenue X and Cicero as the final scene takes place where Harvey lost his loved one, namely, 250 W. 52 St. Cicero was the Rome's most famous orator and statesman, and was a vocal opponent against Caesar and tyranny.

A third reference to the fall of the Roman republic is the fact that Jim Gordon, Harvey Dent and Batman form an agreement. In modern times the agreement to control the senate by Caesar, Pompey the Great, and Crassus (the financier of the venture) was known as the first triumvirate.

Harvey represents Cicero at first and then Caesar when he becomes a villain. Gordon is Pompey, the aging general who is trying to do good, and thinks this is the only way how. Batman is Crassus, as he brings together and finances the venture.
